Eosinophilic Pneumonia with Eosinophilic Gastroenteritis.
A 48-year-old man was admitted to our hospital with cough, fever and dysphagia. He had a past history of bronchial asthma and surgery for nasal polyp. Chest radiograph and computed tomography showed atelectasis in the right lower field and infiltrative shadow in the left lower field and overall thickening of the esophageal wall.

Prostaglandin D2 and Interleukin-5 Reduce Crth2 Surface Expression on Human Eosinophils
Background: Recently, a second prostaglandin D2 (PGD2) receptor, chemoattractant receptor-homologous molecule expressed on Th2 cells (CRTH2), was identified.

High fat diet causes depletion of intestinal eosinophils associated with intestinal permeability. [PDF]
The development of intestinal permeability and the penetration of microbial products are key factors associated with the onset of metabolic disease. However, the mechanisms underlying this remain unclear. Here we show that, unlike liver or adipose tissue,

Robust Phenotypic Activation of Eosinophils during Experimental Toxocara canis Infection
Eosinophils are multifunctional cells that have cytotoxic proinflammatory activities and stimulate CD4+ T-cells in experimental models of allergy and parasitic infections.

Network model of immune responses reveals key effectors to single and co-infection dynamics by a respiratory bacterium and a gastrointestinal helminth [PDF]
Co-infections alter the host immune response but how the systemic and local processes at the site of infection interact is still unclear. The majority of studies on co-infections concentrate on one of the infecting species, an immune function or group of

Eosinophils and eosinophil-associated diseases: An update [PDF]
The goal of this series is to offer a survey of the latest literature for clinicians and scientists alike, providing a list of important recent advances relevant to the broad field of allergy and immunology. This particular assignment was to cover the topic of eosinophils. In an attempt to highlight major ideas, themes, trends, and advances relevant to

Background The fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) and blood eosinophils are biomarkers of eosinophilic airway inflammation used in the diagnosis and management of asthma, although induced sputum is the gold standard test for phenotypic asthma ...

Shh production and Gli signaling is activated in vivo in lung, enhancing the Th2 response during a murine model of allergic asthma [PDF]
The pathophysiology of allergic asthma is driven by T-helper 2 (Th2) immune responses following aeroallergen inhalation. The mechanisms that initiate, potentiate and regulate airways allergy are incompletely characterized.

Central Role of IL-23 and IL-17 Producing Eosinophils as Immunomodulatory Effector Cells in Acute Pulmonary Aspergillosis and Allergic Asthma. [PDF]
Aspergillus fumigatus causes invasive pulmonary disease in immunocompromised hosts and allergic asthma in atopic individuals. We studied the contribution of lung eosinophils to these fungal diseases.

Helminth-induced eosinophils accumulate around the parasite at the site of infection, or in parasite-damaged tissues well after the helminth has left the site. The role of helminth-elicited eosinophils in mediating parasite control is complex. While they
