BDH1‐mediated LRRC31 regulation dependent on histone lysine β‐hydroxybutyrylation to promote lung adenocarcinoma progression

open access: yesMedComm, 2023
Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is the most common form of lung cancer, with a consistently low 5‐year survival rate. Therefore, we aim to identify key genes involved in LUAD progression to pave the way for targeted therapies in the future.

Poly-β-hydroxybutyrate production by lactic acid bacteria [PDF]

open access: yesFEMS Microbiology Letters, 1998
Poly-beta-hydroxybutyrate was determined in lactic acid bacteria belonging to the genera Lactobacillus, Lactococcus, Pediococcus and Streptococcus. Lactobacilli were grown in MRS broth, the others were grown in Elliker broth medium. Cell biomass was obtained by centrifugation. The cell walls were lysed with sodium hypochlorite.

Broad‐Spectrum, Cell Envelope‐Active Marinocyclin Antibiotics From a Coral‐Derived Bacterium Are Effective Against Colistin‐Resistant Bacteria

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Marinocyclins, polycationic macrocyclic depsipeptides, were discovered by genome mining from the marine coral‐derived bacterium Aquimarina megaterium. The compounds have broad‐spectrum activity against gram‐positive and gram‐negative ESKAPE bacteria.

Safety of β‐hydroxybutyrate salts as a novel food pursuant to Regulation (EU) 2015/2283

open access: yesEFSA Journal, 2022
Following a request from the European Commission, the EFSA Panel on Nutrition, Novel Foods and Food Allergens (NDA) was asked to deliver an opinion on β‐hydroxybutyrate (BHB) salts as a novel food (NF) pursuant to Regulation (EU) 2015/2283.

Factors affecting poly-β-hydroxybutyrate accumulation in cyanobacteria and in purple non-sulfur bacteria [PDF]

open access: yesFEMS Microbiology Letters, 1992
Spirulina maxima and Rhodopseudomonas palustris, which are known to be capable of synthesizing poly-β-hydroxybutyrate (PHB), were grown under different conditions in order to investigate the metabolic significance of PHB synthesis in phototrophic microorganisms. The intracellular concentration of PHB in S.

Consequences of reprogramming acetyl-CoA metabolism by 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin in the mouse liver

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
2,3,7,8-Tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) is a persistent environmental contaminant that induces the progression of steatosis to steatohepatitis with fibrosis in mice.

Exercise promotes the expression of brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) through the action of the ketone body β-hydroxybutyrate

open access: yeseLife, 2016
Exercise induces beneficial responses in the brain, which is accompanied by an increase in BDNF, a trophic factor associated with cognitive improvement and the alleviation of depression and anxiety. However, the exact mechanisms whereby physical exercise

Ectopic Expression of the Rhizobium etli amtB Gene Affects the Symbiosome Differentiation Process and Nodule Development

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 1999
Under conditions of nitrogen limitation, soil bacteria of the genus Rhizobium are able to induce the development of symbiotic nodules on the roots of leguminous plants. During nodule organogenesis, bacteria are released endocytotically inside the invaded

β-hydroxybutyrate as an Anti-Aging Metabolite

open access: yes, 2021
The ketone bodies, especially β-hydroxybutyrate (β-HB), derive from fatty acid oxidation and alternatively serve as a fuel source for peripheral tissues including the brain, heart, and skeletal muscle.

Inhibition of adenosine 3′:5′-monophosphate accumulation in white fat cells by short chain fatty acids, lactate, and β-hydroxybutyrate

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1976
The large increase in cyclic AMP accumulation by rat white fat cells seen in the presence of lipolytic agents plus methylxanthines and adenosine deaminase was markedly inhibited by lactate. However, lipolysis was unaffected by lactate.
