Function‐driven design of a surrogate interleukin‐2 receptor ligand

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Interleukin (IL)‐2 signaling can be achieved and precisely fine‐tuned through the affinity, distance, and orientation of the heterodimeric receptors with their ligands. We designed a biased IL‐2 surrogate ligand that selectively promotes effector T and natural killer cell activation and differentiation. Interleukin (IL) receptors play a pivotal role in

Modified Non-Linear Triangular Neutrosophic Numbers: Theory and Applications in Integral Equation [PDF]

open access: yesNeutrosophic Sets and Systems
Existing methods for handling uncertainty and imprecision often fall short in addressing complex real-world problems. To overcome these limitations, this paper introduces a novel Generalized Non-Linear Triangular Neutrosophic Number (GNLTNN) that ...

Mechanisms of parasite‐mediated disruption of brain vessels

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Parasites can affect the blood vessels of the brain, often causing serious neurological problems. This review explains how different parasites interact with and disrupt these vessels, what this means for brain health, and why these processes matter. Understanding these mechanisms may help us develop better ways to prevent or treat brain infections in ...

Morphological and chemical variations of sweet flag (Acorus calamus L.) in the Czech and Finnish gene bank collection

open access: yesHorticultural Science, 2007
The aim of this study was to analyze both the morphological and chemical characteristics of Acorus calamus plants collected from the natural sites in the Czech Republic and to compare them to the sweet flags growing in Finland, Slovenia and Canada, which

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.
