Therapeutic Monitoring of Patients With Hereditary Tyrosinemia Type 1—A Belgian Monocentric Experience [PDF]

open access: yesJIMD Reports
Hereditary tyrosinemia type I (HT‐1) is a rare metabolic disorder treated by NTBC, requiring careful therapeutic and nutritional monitoring. While follow‐up traditionally relies on urinary succinylacetone, plasma NTBC and plasma amino acids, dried blood ...

Divergent pathways for δ-aminolevulinic acid synthesis in two species ofArthrobacter [PDF]

open access: yesFEMS Microbiology Letters, 1995
Secretion of coproporphyrin III by suspensions of Arthrobacter photogonimos and A. globiformis facilitated analysis of the paths of synthesis of δ-aminolevulinic acid, the precursor of tetrapyrroles. Sensitivity of coproporphyrin accumulation to gabaculine and incorporation of 14C from [1-14C]glutamate indicated that suspensions of A.

δ-Aminolevulinic acid biosynthesis inEscherichia coliandBacillus subtilisinvolves formation of glutamyl-tRNA [PDF]

open access: yesFEMS Microbiology Letters, 1989
Cell-free extracts of Escherichia coli and Bacillus subtilis catalyzed the tRNA-dependent, RNase A-sensitive formation of δ-aminolevulinic acid (ALA) from glutamate. Cell extracts prepared from cultures of E. coli grown under aerobic or anaerobic conditions had similar levels of ALA biosynthetic activity.

Determination of delta aminolevulinic acid levels in urine; a sensitive indicator of lead exposure in construction workers [PDF]

open access: yesAl Ameen Journal of Medical Sciences, 2020
Background: Occupational exposure is a major source for lead poisoning in adults. Lead toxicity disrupts the functions of the digestive system, nervous system, respiratory system, reproductive system, etc.

Influence of lead on the chlorophyll content and on initial steps of its synthesis in greening cucumber seedlings

open access: yesActa Societatis Botanicorum Poloniae, 2014
Lead uptake by young cucumber (Couches satires L.) seedlings growing in 10-4 and 10-3 M PbCl2 solution caused δ-aminolevulinic acid synthesis inhibition, reduced the activity of δ-aminolevulinic acid dehydratase and the chlorophyll centent in the ...

Exogenous application of melatonin alleviates salt stress-induced decline in growth and photosynthesis in Glycine max (L.) seedlings by improving mineral uptake, antioxidant and glyoxalase system

open access: yesPlant, Soil and Environment, 2021
Soybean plants grown under NaCl were foliar sprayed twice with melatonin (MLT). Results revealed that salt stress reduced growth, biomass accumulation, photosynthesis, mineral uptake, the content of δ-aminolevulinic acid, chlorophylls, carotenoids and ...

δ-Aminolevulinic acid cytotoxic effects on human hepatocarcinoma cell lines

open access: yesBMC Cancer, 2002
Background Acute Intermittent Porphyria is a genetic disorder of heme metabolism, characterized by increased levels of porphyrin precursors, δ-aminolevulinic acid (ALA) and porphobilinogen (PBG).

Inhibition of δ-aminolevulinic acid dehydratase activity by cadmium in excised etiolated maize leaf segments during greening

open access: yesPlant, Soil and Environment, 2011
Supply of 0.1-0.5 mmol CdCl2 inhibited δ-aminolevulinic acid dehydratase (EC 4.2.1.24, ALAD) activity and total chlorophylls in excised etiolated segments of maize leaves during greening.
