Creep-coordinated behaviors of the σ phase with stacking disordering defects in a Ni-based single crystal superalloy

open access: yesMaterials & Design
Ni-based single crystal superalloys (Ni-SXs) generally precipitate unfavorable topologically close-packed (TCP) phases at elevated temperatures. Conventional design strategies primarily aim to suppress TCP phase formation; however, this approach often ...

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

Phase Boundary of Frank–Kasper σ Phase in Phase Diagrams of Binary Mixtures of Block Copolymers and Homopolymers

open access: yes, 2019
The Frank–Kasper σ phase and the dodecagonal quasicrystal (DDQC) have been found in binary mixtures of block copolymers and homopolymers. In this study, the effect of the molecular weight length and weight fraction of added homopolymers on the σ phase ...

The Effect of Yttrium Addition on the Solidification Microstructure and Sigma Phase Precipitation Behavior of S32654 Super Austenitic Stainless Steel

open access: yesMetals
This study focuses on S32654 super austenitic stainless steel (SASS) and systematically characterizes the morphology of the sigma (σ) phase and the segregation behavior of alloying elements in its as-cast microstructure.

Study on σ Phase in Fe–Al–Cr Alloys

open access: yesMetals, 2019
In this paper, a method of using the second phase to control the grain growth in Fe−Al−Cr alloys was proposed, in order to obtain better mechanical properties.

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Two-phase flow in a large diameter vertical riser [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The rapid depletion of hydrocarbon fields around the world has led the industry to search for these resources in ever increasing water depths. In this context, the large diameter (D > 100mm) vertical riser has become a subject of great interest. In this

σ Phase Formed in Conformationally Asymmetric AB-Type Block Copolymers

open access: yes, 2016
The stability of various spherical phases formed in conformationally asymmetric AB diblock and architecture asymmetric ABm miktoarm block copolymers is investigated using self-consistent field theory.
