SWAMP: A new experiment for simulating permafrost warming and active layer deepening on the Tibetan Plateau

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, Volume 14, Issue 7, Page 1732-1746, July 2023., 2023
Abstract Our knowledge on the responses of permafrost ecosystems to climate warming is critical for assessing the direction and magnitude of permafrost carbon‐climate feedback. However, most of the previous experiments have only been able to warm the air and surface soil, with limited effects on the permafrost temperature.

An in-situ method for assessing soil aggregate stability in burned landscapes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Due to soil repellency in burned areas, slope runoff and soil erodibility escalates following forest fires, increasing the vulnerability to post-fire debris flows.

A novel red‐edge spectral index for retrieving the leaf chlorophyll content

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, Volume 13, Issue 12, Page 2771-2787, December 2022., 2022
Abstract The leaf chlorophyll content (Chlleaf) is a crucial vegetation parameter in carbon cycle modelling and agricultural monitoring at local, regional and global scales. The red‐edge spectral region is sensitive to variations in Chlleaf. An increasing number of sensors are capable of sampling red‐edge bands, providing opportunities to estimate ...

Geochemical Characteristics and Environmental Risk Assessment of Heavy Metals in Weathering Profiles of Alkali-enriched Porphyry in Central Yunnan [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
BACKGROUNDThe contents of many heavy metals in soil in many areas of southwest China are much higher than the national soil background value, and related studies show that most heavy metals in soil are in a state of “high background and low activity ...

open access: yesShuitu Baochi Xuebao, 2021

open access: yesShuitu Baochi Xuebao, 2023

open access: yesShuitu Baochi Xuebao, 2020

Wildfire strengthens the relationship between soil biodiversity and ecosystem multifunctionality in subtropical forests

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, Volume 40, Issue 5, Page 1415-1427, May 2026.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Wildfires are disrupting and regenerating forces in nature that affect all ecosystem components. However, the impact of wildfires on soil multitrophic biodiversity and the resulting consequences for ecosystem multifunctionality (EMF) remain poorly understood.
