A case of hypercalcemia Indications for 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D prescription
Annales de biologie clinique, 2015Circulating vitamin D is found in various forms: 25-hydroxyvitamin D or calcidiol, majority circulating form, is a "pro-hormon" which will be converted to 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D or calcitriol, hormone corresponding to vitamin D active form. While determination of 25-hydroxyvitamin D serum levels reflects vitamin D status of patients, determination of ...

1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D mediated hypercalcemia in seminoma
The American Journal of the Medical SciencesHypercalcemia has rarely been associated with seminomas. Due to the limited data available, the pathophysiology of hypercalcemia in seminoma has not been established in literature. We present a case of a 59-year-old male who presented with weakness, abdominal fullness, fatigue, constipation, and a 14 lb unintentional weight loss.

Photoaffinity labeling of the 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D-3 receptor
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - General Subjects, 1991Underivatized 1,25-dihydroxy[26,27-3H]vitamin D-3 was successfully used to photoaffinity label the 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D-3 receptor. The covalent incorporation of tritium into the receptor protein was induced by ultraviolet irradiation of the receptor-1,25-dihydroxy[26,27-3H]vitamin D-3 complex in crude pig intestinal nuclear extract.

Isotopic labeling affects 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D metabolism
Biochemistry, 1989Isotope substitution can change the biochemical properties of vitamin D. To determine the effect of substituting 3H for 1H on the metabolism of 1,25(OH)2D3, we measured the metabolic clearance rate and renal metabolism of unlabeled and 3H-labeled 1,25(OH)2D3. Substitution of 3H for 1H on carbons 26 and 27 [1,25(OH)2[26,27(n)-3H]D3] or on carbons 23 and

Kinetics of 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D metabolism in the aging rat
American Journal of Physiology-Endocrinology and Metabolism, 1992To determine whether postmaturational aging influences the kinetics of 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D [1,25(OH)2D] metabolism in the rat, we measured the metabolic clearance (MCR) and production (PR) rates of 1,25(OH)2D in 6-, 12-, 18-, and 24-mo-old Fischer 344 rats using the constant infusion method. Plasma calcium, phosphorus, and parathyroid hormone (PTH),

Hypercalcemia associated with dysregulation of 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D in arthritis
Journal of Endocrinological Investigation, 1992We describe an elderly man who presented with hypercalcemia associated with suppressed intact parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels. Despite renal insufficiency the circulating 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D (1,25(OH)2D) was in the upper part of the normal range.

Ketoconazole-Induced Reduction in Serum 1,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D*
The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 1986The antimycotic agent ketoconazole is known to inhibit several cytochrome P450-dependent enzymes involved in the biosynthesis of steroid hormones from cholesterol. Since 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D is also a sterol synthesized by cytochrome P450-dependent enzymes, we assessed whether ketoconazole would lower serum 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D levels.

Synthesis of 1,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D in the Nephrectomized Pregnant Rat*
Endocrinology, 1978Pregnant rats were maintained on diets either adequate or deficient in vitamin D. On the 20th day of gestation, animals were either nephrectomized bilaterally or sham operated. Immediately therafter, four groups of nephrectomized or sham-operated pregnant rats received iv [26,27-3H]25-hydroxyvitamin D3 ([26,27-3H]25OHD3), while two groups received [1,2-

1,25-DIHYDROXYVITAMIN D-MEDIATED HYPERCALCEMIA IN OVARIAN DYSGERMINOMA
Pediatric Hematology and Oncology, 2008Humoral hypercalcemia of malignancy (HHM) is a rare complication of malignant pediatric tumors, specifically those that secrete humoral factor(s), such as parathyroid hormone-related peptide (PTHrP). The authors report a case of severe hypercalcemia associated with ovarian dysgerminoma in a 10-year-old girl.

Enhanced Production Rate of 1,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D in Sarcoidosis*
The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 1988We determined the metabolic clearance and production rates of 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D [1,25-(OH)2D] in 5 patients with sarcoidosis who had either hypercalciuria or hypercalcemia to examine whether abnormalities in the metabolism of this hormone existed. The mean MCR in the 5 patients with sarcoidosis [40 +/- 9 (+/- SD) mL/min] was similar to that in 13
