Small molecule splicing modifiers with systemic HTT-lowering activity

open access: yesNature Communications, 2021
Here the authors describe the discovery of a class of small molecule splicing modifiers which are orally bioavailable, cross the blood-brain barrier, and lower levels of huntingtin in a mouse model of Huntington’s disease (HD).

A 100-Year Review: Mastitis detection, management, and prevention.

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science, 2017
Mastitis is the most frequent disease of dairy cows and has well-recognized detrimental effects on animal wellbeing and dairy farm profitability. Since the beginning of modern dairy farming, producers have sought effective methods to minimize the ...

Insights into the renal pathophysiology in Hermansky‐Pudlak syndrome‐1 from urinary extracellular vesicle proteomics and a new mouse model

open access: yesFEBS Letters, Volume 599, Issue 7, Page 1055-1074, April 2025.
Hermansky‐Pudlak syndrome type 1 (HPS‐1) is a rare, autosomal recessive disorder with poorly understood renal involvement. Urinary extracellular vesicle (uEV) proteomics and a novel Hps1 mouse model reveal mitochondrial abnormalities and lipid accumulation in HPS‐1 kidney proximal tubule cells. Serum ApoA1 correlates with kidney function in our patient

Chemosensing in microorganisms to practical biosensors

open access: yes, 2012
Microorganisms like bacteria can sense concentration of chemo-attractants in its medium very accurately. They achieve this through interaction between the receptors on their cell surface and the chemo-attractant molecules (like sugar).

An overview of ordered adlayer structures for CO and NO on the (100) surface of Pt, Rh, Ni, Cu and Pd [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2009
Many ordered adlayer structures have been reported for CO on the (100) surfaces of Pt, Rh, Pd, Ni and Cu. Also, some ordered structures are known for NO on the same surfaces. The current review includes all those articles that give a graphical representation of the position of the adsorbates inside the unit cell. The emphasis is on the case of CO on Pt(

Engineering cryogenic setups for 100-qubit scale superconducting circuit systems [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Quantum Technology, 2018
A robust cryogenic infrastructure in form of a wired, thermally optimized dilution refrigerator is essential for solid-state based quantum processors. Here, we engineer a cryogenic setup, which minimizes passive and active heat loads, while guaranteeing ...

Residues R177 and S178 of the human Na+/H+ antiporter NHA2 are involved in its inhibition by the flavonoid phloretin

open access: yesFEBS Letters, Volume 599, Issue 6, Page 901-911, March 2025.
The human Na+/H+ antiporter NHA2 transports Na+ or Li+ in exchange for protons across cell membranes, and its dysfunction results in various pathologies, e.g., fertility disorders, hypertension, or diabetes. This work provides the molecular characterization of interactions of NHA2 with its specific inhibitor phloretin, which can be helpful for the ...

Synthesis of Self-assembled Iron Silicon Oxide Nanowires onto Single-crystalline Si(100) [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
Iron silicon oxide nanowire has been synthesized by putting single crystalline Si(100) wafer into ammonium iron sulfate, hydrogen peroxide, and triethylamine solution heated to from 70 to 100 degree in the air. The prepared iron silicon oxide nanowires with diameters of about 10nm (onto non etched Si(100) wafer) and about 75nm(onto etched Si(100) wafer)

Cytosolic‐enhanced dark Epac‐based FRET sensors allow for intracellular cAMP detection in live cells via FLIM

open access: yesFEBS Letters, Volume 599, Issue 7, Page 1075-1085, April 2025.
We describe a novel set of Epac‐based FRET‐FLIM biosensors with improved fully cytosolic distribution, achieved without compromising the state‐of‐the‐art performance of our original designs, for detecting cAMP dynamics in real time in live cells with high precision and reliability.
