Rare Association Between Neurofibromatosis Type 1 and Adrenocortical Carcinoma

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 3, March 2026.
Axial slice CT abdomen pelvis with portal venous contrast, revealing a well circumscribed 22 × 20 × 22 mm left adrenocortical adenocarcinoma (ACC) in a patient with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1). ABSTRACT Although rare, adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) should be considered in individuals with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) presenting with adrenal ...

Molecular and Endocrine Regulation of Ovarian Maturation in the Black Tiger Prawn (Penaeus monodon) and Associated Challenges in Its Aquaculture

open access: yesReviews in Aquaculture, Volume 18, Issue 2, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Over the past four decades, substantial research has investigated the regulation of ovarian maturation and spawning in the black tiger prawn (Penaeus monodon). In this species, female reproduction is strongly suppressed by gonad‐inhibiting hormone (GIH) released from the eyestalk, making eyestalk ablation (ESA) the most widely adopted spawning‐

Mono-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate directly alters the expression of Leydig cell genes and CYP17 lyase activity in cultured rat fetal testis.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
Exposure to phthalates in utero alters fetal rat testis gene expression and testosterone production, but much remains to be done to understand the mechanisms underlying the direct action of phthalate within the fetal testis.

Midtrimester transvaginal ultrasound cervical length screening for spontaneous preterm birth in diamniotic twin pregnancies according to chorionicity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
OBJECTIVE: To compare the mean transvaginal ultrasound (TVU) cervical length (CL) at midtrimester screening for spontaneous preterm birth in asymptomatic monochorionic diamniotic versus dichorionic diamniotic twin pregnancies STUDY DESIGN: This was a ...

PFOS Disrupts Oocyte Maturation and Early Embryonic Development via Ovarian FOXK1 O‐GlcNAcylation in Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 12, 27 February 2026.
Perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) exposure disrupts oocyte maturation and early embryonic development. This study elucidates the mechanism by which enhanced O‐GlcNAcylation of FOXK1 underlies the PFOS‐induced reduction of progesterone levels in granulosa cells and the disturbance of follicular microenvironment.

Determination of serum 17 alpha-hydroxyprogesterone by liquid chromatography.

open access: yesClinical Chemistry, 1981
Abstract 17 alpha-Hydroxyprogesterone, cortisol, and 11-deoxycortisol were extracted with methylene chloride, separated by liquid chromatography, identified by their retention times, and quantitated by monitoring the absorbance at 254 nm. The method is specific and sensitive to as little as 2.5 ng of 17 alpha-hydroxyprogesterone.

Sexual Dimorphisms of Adrenal Steroids, Sex Hormones, and Immunological Biomarkers and Possible Risk Factors for Developing Rheumatoid Arthritis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Endocrinology, 2015
Innate immunity and immunological biomarkers are believed to be interrelated with sex hormones and other neuroendocrine factors. Sexual dimorphism mechanisms may be operating in certain rheumatic and inflammatory diseases which occur more frequently in ...

Lack of Influence of the Androgen Receptor Gene CAG-Repeat Polymorphism on Clinical and Electrocardiographic Manifestations of the Brugada Syndrome in Man

open access: yesClinical Medicine Insights: Cardiology, 2012
Background Clinical studies suggest that testosterone (T) plays an important role in the male predominance of the clinical manifestations of the Brugada syndrome (BS). However, no statistically significant correlations have been observed between T levels

The Traditional Chinese Medicine Compound Hezi Qingyou Formula Controls the MAPK Signaling Pathway for Alleviating Gastric Ulcer Induced by Acetic Acid in Rats

open access: yesJournal of Immunology Research, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
In clinical practice, Hezi Qingyou Formula (HZQYF) has been observed to effectively alleviate clinical symptoms associated with gastri ulcers, though its precise mechanism of action remains unclear. To investigate the effects of HZQYF on gastric ulcers, we established a rat model of gastric ulcer and examined its impact on ulcer area, pathological ...

The Role of the Vaginal Microbiome in Preterm Premature Rupture of Membranes: A Comprehensive Review of Mechanisms and Clinical Implications

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 8, Issue 12, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM), a complication in approximately 4.5% of pregnancies, is a leading cause of preterm birth and significant perinatal morbidity. A substantial body of evidence implicates vaginal dysbiosis a departure from a healthy, Lactobacillus‐dominant microbiome in the pathogenesis of PPROM.
