2-Propanol degradation by Sulfolobus solfataricus
Sulfolobus solfataricus used 2-propanol and 2-propanone (acetone) when grown in static cultures at 78 degrees C with or without glucose at 10 g l-1. The presence of 3.92 g 2-propanol l-1 in both cases inhibited growth. However, acetone accumulation following 2-propanol depletion suggested that 2-propanol was co-metabolized via the acetone metabolic ...

Poisoning with 1-propanol and 2-propanol
Human and Experimental Toxicology, 20071-Propanol and 2-propanol are isomers of an alcohol with three carbons. They are colorless liquids with a sweet odor. 1-Propanol is metabolized by alcohol dehydrogenase to propionic acid and presents with metabolic acidosis and elevated anion gap, whereas 2-propanol is metabolized by alcohol dehydrogenase to acetone and presents with rapidly developing

Studies on Inhalation Toxicity of 2-Propanol
Drug and Chemical Toxicology, 1980Biological effects of a single exposure to moderate or high concentrations of 2-propanol were investigated in Sprague-Dawley rats. Acute toxicity (LC50, t:8 hours) of this widely used solvent was determined and found to be 19000 ppm (17380-20760 ppm) for females and 22500 ppm (19200-26400 ppm) for males.

Preparation of coal slurry with 2-propanol
Journal of Hazardous Materials, 2006This study explored the feasibility of using waste organic solvents as substitutes for water to prepare coal slurries. The rheological properties of coal-2-propanol slurries were examined and compared with that of coal-water slurry (CWS). The good compatibility between coal particles and 2-propanol resulted in stable particle suspension in slurry which

Excess enthalpies of 2-propanol + cyclohexane and 2-propanol + benzene + cyclohexane at 298.15 K
The Journal of Chemical Thermodynamics, 1978Abstract With an isothermal dilution calorimeter excess enthalpies have been determined at 298.15 K for 2-propanol + cyclohexane and 2-propanol + benzene + cyclohexane mixtures. The results are fitted with an associated-solution model. Predicted excess enthalpies for the ternary mixture agree well with the experimental results.

Excess molar volumes measured as a function of composition at 298.15 K using a dilution dilatometer, are reported for the 10 binary mixtures of 1-propanol and of 2-propanol with propane-1,2-diol, 1-methoxy-2-propanol, 1-ethoxy-2-propanol, or 1-tert-butoxy-2-propanol and water with 1-methoxy-2-propanol or 1-ethoxy-2-propanol. Excess volumes are negative

Carboxymethylation of peat in 2-propanol
Solid Fuel Chemistry, 2011The effects of the time and temperature of alkaline pretreatment and the time and temperature of the carboxymethylation of peat in 2-propanol on the concentration of carboxymethyl groups and the solubility of the resulting products in water and an aqueous alkali solution were studied.

Bioelektrochemische 2-Propanol-Sensoren
Journal für Praktische Chemie/Chemiker-Zeitung, 1997Bioelectrochemical 2-Propanol Biosensors 2-Propanol biosensors for O2-detectors based on bienzyme membranes with sequentially installed catalase and alcohol oxidase are described. Measurements were performed in undiluted media up to 20 vol.-% 2-propanol according to the principle of intermediate carrier analysis by use of a micro-dialysator, an ...

Vapor-liquid equilibria for the 2-propanol-propane and 2-propanol-propylene systems were measured in the temperature range of 313-370 K, and at pressures up to 40 bar. The results show no azeotrope formation in either of the systems studied. The data were correlated using the Soave-Redlich-Kwong (SRK) equation of state with local composition mixing ...
