Large Deformation Pile‐soil Interaction Under Lateral Vehicle Impact Using Hybrid SPH+FEM and EFG+FEM Models

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, Volume 50, Issue 5, Page 2648-2669, 10 April 2026.
ABSTRACT This study presents large deformation computational methods to simulate lateral vehicular impacts on steel piles in granular soil. Soil‐mounted longitudinal barrier systems rely on energy dissipation in both the piles and the surrounding soil to safely redirect errant vehicles, so dynamic pile‐soil interaction is important for design ...

Plasmonic‐Quantum and Emitter's Finite‐Size Effects in Plasmon‐Emitter Coupling: A QHT–DFT Hybrid Approach

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 6, 27 March 2026.
Plasmon‐emitter interactions in a dimer are studied using a hybrid approach: density functional theory captures the molecular transition density of the p‐nitroaniline molecule, whereas quantum hydrodynamic theory models the plasmonic system. Comparison with a point dipole shows significant deviations in emission rates and spectral positions for gaps ...

Numerical simulation in roll pass design for bar rolling

open access: yesMetalurgija, 2015
The application of finite element simulation to the problem of roll pass design for round bar rolling is considered. Two roll pass sequences were developed by analytical methods and then optimized using 2.5D Finite Element Method (FEM).

Abnormally Large Magma Flux Does Not Lead to Eruption in Subduction Zone Calderas: The 2022–2023 Episode of Uplift of Aniakchak Crater (Aleutians)

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 2, 28 January 2026.
Abstract Observations of ground deformation provide insights on the triggering mechanisms of eruptions. At Aniakchak Crater (Aleutians) InSAR measured ∼ ${\sim} $72 cm of uplift in less than 7 months between 2022 and 2023. The uplift can be explained by the inflation of a point pressure source at a depth of 3.2 km.

Environmental vibration reduction characteristics of subway track with resilient wheel

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics
Environmental vibrations induced by subway systems are typically mitigated through track-based isolation measures, which are effective only in localized areas. Extending such solutions along entire lines involves prohibitive costs.

Modeling of vibrations induced in tunnels: a 2.5D FEM-PML approach

open access: yesGeotecnia, 2018
The simulation and study of problems related with vibrations induced by railway traffic in tunnels is a difficult and complex task. The semi-indefined character of the domain surrounding the tunnel associated to the 3-dimensional characteristics of the problem are the major causes of that complexity.

Semi‐Analytical Method for 3D‐Aware Performance Estimation of High‐Speed Synchronous Reluctance Machines With a Continuously Skewed Axially Laminated Rotor

open access: yesIET Electric Power Applications, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This paper presents a semi‐analytical method for evaluating losses and torque in high‐speed synchronous reluctance machines with continuously skewed axially laminated anisotropic rotors. The approach extends a 2D‐based loss model to incorporate 3D skewing effects, achieving accuracy within 10% compared to full 3D finite‐element analysis while ...
