Controlling 3D Contractility via Engineered Fibrous Hydrogel Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A tunable composite contractile assembly (CCA) is developed that can permit or resist contraction without changing cell‐adhesion and density, unlike collagen whose inherent coupling of these ECM cues limits its use as a platform in contractility studies.

Optimization of thermal systems with sensitive optics, electronics, and structures [PDF]

open access: yes
A strategy was investigated by which thermal designers for spacecraft could devise an optimal thermal control system to maintain the required temperatures, temperature differences, changes in temperature, and changes in temperature differences for ...

Universal Electronic‐Structure Relationship Governing Intrinsic Magnetic Properties in Permanent Magnets

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Permanent magnets derive their extraordinary strength from deep, universal electronic‐structure principles that control magnetization, anisotropy, and intrinsic performance. This work uncovers those governing rules, examines modern modeling and AI‐driven discovery methods, identifies critical bottlenecks, and reveals electronic fingerprints shared ...

Covalent Organic Frameworks for Photocatalytic CO2 Reduction: Metal Integration Principles, Strategies and Functions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) with metals have been recognized as versatile platforms for photocatalytic CO2 reduction (CO2PRR). Herein, an overview of metal integration strategies for COFs is systematically summarized. Regulatory mechanisms and structure–activity relationships between metal integration and COF‐based CO2PRR are emphasized.

Exciton‐Polaritons in Nanoscale Metal‐Organic Frameworks: A Platform for the Reversible Modulation of Strong Light‐Matter Coupling via the Chemical Environment

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Strong exciton‐photon coupling is achieved by integrating porphyrin ligand‐based MOF nanoparticles in optical cavities, as evidenced by pronounced polariton branch anticrossing. The porous nature of the resonator enables precise, reversible tuning via vapor pressure, unlocking unprecedented chemical‐environment controlled dynamic polaritonic platforms ...

Growth Effects of Spatial Redistribution Policies [PDF]

open access: yes
Regional income disparities have increased in many European countries recently, even as national and supra-national policy instruments were created to correct them. To explain these evolutions, we develop a two-region, two-sector model with migration and

Imaging of Biphoton States: Fundamentals and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Quantum states of two photons exhibit a rich polarization and spatial structure, which provides a fundamental resource of strongly correlated and entangled states. This review analyzes the physics of these intriguing properties and explores the various techniques and technologies available to measure them, including the state of the art of their ...

Magnetism and Nonlinear Charge Transport in NiFe2O4/γ‐Al2O3/SrTiO3 Heterostructure: Toward Spintronic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this report, we demonstrate that a crystalline phase of 52nm thick NiFe2O4 can be grown by RF sputtering on top of γ‐Al2O3(8nm)/SrTiO3 at a significantly low temperature (150 °C) without compromising the mobility and carrier density of the 2D electron gas at the γ‐Al2O3(8nm)/SrTiO3 interface.

Electric Field‐Dependent Conductivity as Probe for Charge Carrier Delocalization and Morphology in Organic Semiconductors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Applying a high electric field to a doped organic semiconductor heats up the charge carrier distribution beyond the lattice temperature, enhancing conductivity. It is shown that the associated effective temperature can be used to extract the effective localization length, which is a characteristic length scale of charge transport and provides ...

2D Magnetic and Topological Quantum Materials and Devices for Ultralow Power Spintronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
2D magnets and topological quantum materials enable ultralow‐power spintronics by combining robust magnetic order with symmetry‐protected, Berry‐curvature‐driven transport. Fundamentals of 2D anisotropy and spin‐orbit‐coupling induced band inversion are linked to scalable growth and vdW stacking.
