25-Hydroxycholecalciferol in experimental osteoporosis

Clinical Rheumatology, 1985
The authors, using the experimental pattern of bone rarefaction induced by a low calcium diet, tried to determine if 25-hydroxycholecalciferol, administered at doses and according to procedures similar to those used in osteoporosis, might interfere in such a process of rarefaction.

Measurement of Plasma 25‐Hydroxycholecalciferol in Man

European Journal of Clinical Investigation, 1972
Abstract. A radio‐ligand assay for the measurement of 25‐hydroxycholecalciferol (25‐OH D3) in human plasma has been devised. Three ml of plasma, with 25‐hydroxychole‐calciferol‐26, 27‐H3 (3H‐25‐OH D3) added for recovery, was extracted and purified by thin‐layer chromatography. The plasma from an osteomalacic man, diluted 1 to 800, was used as a source

25-Hydroxycholecalciferol levels in bedouins in the Negev

The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, 1976
25-Hydroxycholecalciferol (25-HCC) levels were measured in 31 bedouin females and eight bedouin male tribesmen and compared with the levels in Jewish males and females in Beersheba. In nonpregnant bedouin women the mean 25-HCC level was 25.4 ng/ml +/- 9.78. In pregnant bedouin women the mean was 23.4 ng/ml +/- 8.52.

Metabolism of 25-Hydroxycholecalciferol in Nephrectomized Rats

Klinische Wochenschrift, 1971

The Influence of Phenobarbital on Biotransformation of 25‐Hydroxycholecalciferol

The Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, 1976
Altered vitamin D metabolism has been implicated as a cause of anticonvulsant-induced osteomalacia. Previous studies have demonstrated accelerated biotransformation of vitamin D3 to 25-hydroxycholecalciferol (25-OHD3). However, it is not known whether the 25-OHD3 is metabolized to 1,25-dihydroxycholecalciferol (1,25-(OH)2D3), the tissue-active ...

Acute Administration of 25-Hydroxycholecalciferol in Man

The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 1976
Serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D responses to oral doses of 25-hydroxycholecalciferol were measured in healthy volunteers. Peak serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels occurred 4 to 8 hours after doses of 1.5, 5, and 10 mug per kg of body weight. The mean increments above baseline serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D concentrations at 4 hours were linear over this dose range ...

Metabolism of 25-hydroxycholecalciferol by human bone

Journal of Endocrinological Investigation, 1983
Although there is abundant evidence from animal studies that 1,25-dihydroxychole-calciferol [1,25-(OH)2D3] is synthesized in the kidney, it is still unknown whether human bone might also be involved in the formation of this metabolite. To investigate whether 1,25-(OH)2D3 can be synthesized by human bone, 25-hydroxycholecalciferol (25-OH D3) metabolism ...

25-Hydroxycholecalciferol Metabolism in Hypophysectomized Rats*

Endocrinology, 1978
The metabolism of 25-hydroxycholecalciferol (25-(OH)Da) was investigated in vitamin D normal rats, 4 weeks after hypophysectomy. Compared to sham-operated controls, these animals were hypophosphatemic and their parathyroid glands were significantly smaller than normal. Eighteen hours after ip injection of a single dose of tritiated 25-(OH)D3 (50 pmol),

Synthesis of [26,27-3H]-25-hydroxycholecalciferol

Analytical Biochemistry, 1971
Abstract [26,27- 3 H]-25-HCC has been chemically synthesized. This preparation is radiochemically pure and has a specific activity (180,000 dpm/IU, 1.3 Ci/mmole) high enough to permit experiments with 0.025 μg of 25-HCC/rat. This preparation is biologically as active (52 IU/μg) as either isolated or synthetic 25-HCC in curing rickets in rats.

25-Hydroxycholecalciferol and Fractures of the Proximal Femur

Lancet, The, 1975
Abstract Plasma 25-hydroxycholecalciferol (25-H.C.C.) has been measured in 67 consecutive cases of fracture of the proximal femur. The values found in these patients were not different from those in control groups at the same time of the year. Plasma 25-H.C.C.
