A simple radioassay for 25-hydroxycholecalciferol without chromatography

Clinica Chimica Acta, 1976
A simple method to assay 25-hydroxycholecalciferol in human plasma without chromatography is described. The method includes ammonium sulphate precipitation of 25-hydroxycholecalciferol bound to plasma-transport globulins as a purification step, extraction with toluene and saturation analysis utilizing human osteomalacic plasma for competitive protein ...

The plasma transport proteins of 25-hydroxycholecalciferol in mammals

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Comparative Biochemistry, 1976
Abstract 1. 1. The transport proteins of 25-hydroxycholecalciferol were studied in 72 species from 14 mammalian orders. 2. 2. Sixty-five species had an α-globulin transport protein. 3. 3. Seven species: Pacific Dolphin, Killer Whale, African Elephant, Indian Elephant, White-throated Capuchin (Monkey), White-fronted Capuchin and Brown ...

25-Hydroxycholecalciferol levels in camel, sheep and goat

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Comparative Biochemistry, 1978
1. The plasma levels of 25-hydroxycholecalciferol were measured in female dromedary camels, female sheep and Sinai desert goats. 2. The camels had levels of 443 +/- 96 ng/ml in summer, and 267 +/- 113 ng/ml in winter. 3. The sheep had levels of 40.7 +/- 9.09 ng/ml in summer and 37.1 +/- 8.82 ng/ml in winter, i.e. roughly the same as man in that region.

Affinity of Calciferol Analogues for 25-Hydroxycholecalciferol Receptors

Clinical Science, 1974
1. The affinity of cholecalciferol, ergocalciferol and 25-hydroxyergocalciferol for 25-hydroxycholecalciferol receptors in human, rat and chicken kidney cytosol fractions is related to the biological activity of these analogues in the three species. 2.

Plasma 25‐Hydroxycholecalciferol in Chronic Renal Failure

European Journal of Clinical Investigation, 1973
Abstract. 47 patients with chronic renal failure were investigated for plasma 25‐hydroxycholecalciferol (25‐OH D3) concentration, serum calcium, phosphorus, alkaline phosphatase. 22 patients had chronic haemodialysis twice weekly. There is a highly significant positive coefficient of correlation between calcaemia and 25‐OH D3 plasma concentration ...

25-Hydroxycholecalciferol: Direct Effect on Calcium Transport

Science, 1969
The perfused small intestine from a vitamin D deficient rat exhibits about one-half the calcium transport of the intestine from a rat given vitamin D. These levels of calcium transport can be maintained for at least 4 hours. Addition of 2.5 micrograms of 25-hydroxycholecalciferol added to the vitamin D deficient intestine via the arterial ...

Metabolism of 25-hydroxycholecalciferol by kidney cell lines

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1982
Abstract The metabolism of 25-hydroxyvitamin D 3 to 24,25-dihydroxyvitamin D 3 by the rhesus monkey cell line LLC-MK 2 and similar reactions of the African green monkey cell lines, Vero and BSC-1, were observed. In addition, a second metabolite produced by the former cell line was identified as 25,26-dihydroxyvitamin D 3 .

Competitive Protein-Binding Assay for 25-Hydroxycholecalciferol

Clinical Science, 1974
1. A competitive protein-binding assay for plasma 25-hydroxycholecalciferol was developed, using Sephadex LH-20 columns for the isolation of the sterol and a partially purified protein from rat serum as the binding protein. 2. The mean plasma 25-hydroxycholecalciferol in eighteen male and female normal volunteers was 38 ± SD 14 pmol/ml ...

[Determination of 25-hydroxycholecalciferol in serum].

Revista espanola de fisiologia, 1984
A precise specific method for measuring 25-hydroxycholecalciferol (25-OH CC) in 2 ml of human serum is described. It includes extraction with acetonitrile, separation with Sep-Pak C-18 cartridges, purification through HPLC and a further quantitation by means of a protein-binding assay.

25-Hydroxycholecalciferol for Early Neonatal Hypocalcemia

American Journal of Diseases of Children, 1978
Oral 25-hydroxycholecalciferol (25OHD3) has been used to prevent early neonatal hypocalcemia. Thirty premature neonates were studied prospectively from birth: 22 premature infants constituted a control group, and eight were treated orally with 25OHD3 (2 microgram/kg/day) for five days beginning within the first 12 hours of life.
