Enzyme immunoassay for measuring 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 in serum [PDF]

open access: yesClinical Chemistry, 1997
AbstractWe developed a rapid, competitive enzyme immunoassay (EIA) for measuring 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 [25(OH)D3] in serum. The EIA was based upon 25(OH)D3-3-hemisuccinate covalently coupled to secondary amino groups grafted onto the polystyrene surface of microtiter wells.

Systemic, Lifestyle and Environmental Modifying Factors in the Pathogenesis of Periodontitis

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
A variety of impacting factors in the pathogenesis of periodontitis exist, including systemic, lifestyle, and environmental factors. This review highlights the manifold mechanistic aspects of the link between the pathogenesis of periodontitis, addressing these numerous factors to supplement the long‐standing knowledge of the progression of the disease.

Influence of Vitamin D Concentration and Glycaemic Control on the Severity of Periodontitis in Cameroonian Type 2 Diabetics: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesOral Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background This cross‐sectional study aimed to evaluate the influence of vitamin D and glycaemic control on the severity of periodontitis in Cameroonian type 2 diabetics (T2D) and to identify the determinants of severe periodontitis (SP). Methods Vitamin D concentration and blood glucose control were determined by measuring serum levels of 25 ...

Relationship between vitamin D deficiency and early implant failure and osseointegration

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView.
Abstract Background This systematic review investigated the relationship between pre‐operative vitamin D levels and implant osseointegration and implant‐related outcomes. It also assessed studies involving vitamin D supplementation before implant placement.

Use of 25-Hydroxyvitamin D3 and Dietary Calcium Manipulations to Improve Tenderness of Beef [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Improving tenderness of beef from cows is desirable because it could increase marketability of these carcasses and, thereby, increase profits to producers.

Microvascular endothelial function is blunted in postmenopausal females with frequent hot flushes

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Hot flushes of menopause are associated with elevated blood pressure (BP) and diminished macrovascular endothelial function, an initiating factor in the onset of atherosclerosis. Whether microvascular endothelial function is impaired in females with hot flushes, however, remains unknown.

Chemopreventive efficacy of 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 in colon cancer [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Steroid Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, 2007
Recently, it has been reported that 25-hydroxyvitamin D3-1alpha-hydroxylase [1alpha(OH)ase, CYP27B1], required to convert non-toxic 25-hyxdroxyvitamin D3 [25(OH)D(3)] to its active metabolite [1alpha,25(OH)(2)D(3)], is present in the epithelial cells of the human colon.

Uncarboxylated Osteocalcin Is Associated With Improved Energy Metabolism and Reduced Hepatic Lipid Accumulation in Postpartum Dairy Cows

open access: yeseFood, Volume 7, Issue 6, December 2026.
The study found that uncarboxylated osteocalcin (unOCN) regulates energy metabolism in postpartum dairy cows by promoting the secretion of adiponectin and glucagon‐like peptide‐1. Furthermore, unOCN acts directly on the liver, activating the hepatic AMPK‐PPARα pathway, which consequently reduces lipid accumulation in the liver.
