Effects of Diet Strategy and Nutrients on the Progression and Prevention of Diabetic Cardiomyopathy: A Narrative Review

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 4, April 2026.
Dietary strategies modulate the progression of diabetic cardiomyopathy by targeting oxidative stress, inflammation, mitochondrial dysfunction, and myocardial fibrosis. Specific nutrients and bioactive compounds, as well as caloric restriction, improve myocardial metabolism and redox balance, whereas ketogenic diets exert time‐dependent beneficial or ...

Comparison of Viable and Heat‐Inactivated Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosusIDCC 3201: Anti‐Pathogenic, Anti‐Inflammatory, and Microbiota Modulating Effect [PDF]

open access: yesFood Sci Nutr
This graphical abstract illustrates the comparative effects of viable Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus IDCC 3201 and its heat‐inactivated form, RHT 3201. While viable IDCC 3201 showed broad‐spectrum pathogen inhibition and ecological persistence, heat‐inactivated RHT 3201 retained anti‐inflammatory activity and promoted beneficial microbiota, indicating ...

Degradation of bisphenol A by different fungal laccases and identification of its degradation products [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
29 p.-5 fig.Different fungal laccases were used as biocatalysts for the biotransformation of bisphenol A (BPA). The quantitative analysis by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GCeMS) showed that BPA is more rapidly oxidized by Coriolopsis gallica ...

Saffron Alters Microbial Amino Acid Metabolism and Neurotransmitter Production in a Defined Gut Consortium

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 4, April 2026.
Graphical representation of the metabolic pathways modulated by saffron within defined microbial communities. In the tryptophan pathway, saffron decreased levels of tryptophan and anthranilic acid while increasing concentrations of indole‐3‐acetic acid and tryptamine.

Polyhydroxyalkanoate Synthesis by Recombinant Escherichia coli JM109 Expressing PHA Biosynthesis Genes from Comamonas sp. EB172 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Recombinant Escherichia coli JM109 harbouring the polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) biosynthesis gene (phaCABco) of Comamonas sp. EB172, an acid tolerant microbe, was examined for the production of PHAs from various carbon sources.

Enantioselective Microbial Reduction with Baker's Yeast on an Industrial Scale

open access: yesCHIMIA, 2000
Microbial synthesis is an important contribution to Green Chemistry and production-integrated environmental protection. The example of baker's yeast is used to demonstrate how microorganisms can be versatile reagents for asymmetric synthesis and

Sex-associated differences in baseline urinary metabolites of healthy adults. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The biological basis for gender variability among disease states is not well established. There have been many prior efforts attempting to identify the unique urine metabolomic profiles associated with specific diseases.

Identification of Blood Pressure‐Associated Metabolites by Integrating Metabolomic and Genetic Analysis

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 4, April 2026.
This study identified 10 potential causality between metabolites and blood pressure and found potential genetic regulators of two metabolites. Multiomics integration revealed that a genetic variant near the omega‐3 metabolism genes (FADS1/FADS2) may influence blood pressure regulation by modulating prostaglandin E3 levels.
