ATF2 promotes urothelial cancer outgrowth via cooperation with androgen receptor signaling
We investigated the functional role of ATF2, a transcription factor normally activated via its phosphorylation in response to phospho-ERK/MAPK signals, in the outgrowth of urothelial cancer.

Observations on Effect of 3-Methylcholanthrene in Scorbutic Guinea Pigs
Summary1. Some of the pathoses of scurvy in guinea pigs were reversed by administration of 3-methylcholanthrene. These included a marked reduction of incidence of hemorrhage, reduction of bone resorption, preservation of dentinogenesis and prevention of death of odontoblasts. 2.

Background Accumulating evidence indicates a critical role of androgen receptor (AR) in the pathogenesis of male‐dominant urothelial cancer. Meanwhile, the functions of latrophilins (LPHNs), a subfamily of G protein‐coupled receptors, remain largely ...

Identification and editing of stem-like cells in methylcholanthrene-induced sarcomas
The cancer stem cell (CSC) paradigm posits that specific cells within a tumor, so-called CSC-like cells, have differing levels of tumorigenicity and chemoresistance.

Background The tetraspanins Tspan8 and CD151 promote metastasis, exosomes (Exo) being suggested to be important in the crosstalk between tumor and host. The contribution of Tspan8 and CD151 to host versus tumor-derived exosome (TEX) activities being not ...

In 2017, the International Agency for Research on Cancer classified welding fumes as "carcinogenic to humans" (Group 1). Both mild steel (MS) welding, where fumes lack carcinogenic chromium and nickel, and stainless steel (SS) increase lung cancer risk ...

Vanadium pentoxide induces pulmonary inflammation and tumor promotion in a strain-dependent manner
Background Elevated levels of air pollution are associated with increased risk of lung cancer. Particulate matter (PM) contains transition metals that may potentiate neoplastic development through the induction of oxidative stress and inflammation, a ...
