Hydrothermal origin of metabolic phosphorylation

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Serpentinizing hydrothermal vents are candidate sites for biochemical origins. They generate extremely reducing conditions, depositing phosphite (HPO32−) and transition metals, including palladium, in the native (zero‐valent) state. Schlikker et al.

Membrane Topology and Oligomerization of Peptaibols by Solid‐State NMR Spectroscopy

open access: yesJournal of Peptide Science, Volume 32, Issue 12, December 2026.
Peptaibols of 11 to 20 residues were reconstituted in lipid bilayers of varying lipid composition and investigated by solid‐state NMR spectroscopy. Their membrane alignment is revealed by 15N spectra of static‐oriented samples and their oligomerization using 19F CODEX magic angle spinning spectra. ABSTRACT Here, we review solid‐state NMR investigations

Integrated Multispectroscopic Identification of Organophosphorus and Triazine Pesticide Mixtures via DFT–Spectroscopy‐Integrated Identification Method (D‐SIIM)

open access: yesAnalysis &Sensing, Volume 6, Issue 6, November 2026.
Identifying unknown chemicals in mixtures is limited by the reference libraries available. D‐SIIM instead cross‐validates experimental IR, Raman, and NMR spectra against DFT predictions, resolving all components of pesticide mixtures containing up to four multiring organophosphorus and triazine compounds including one for which GC–MS screening proved ...

Continuous Imaging of the Cardiac Cycle Metabolism With Hyperpolarized [1‐13C]Pyruvate

open access: yesNMR in Biomedicine, Volume 39, Issue 11, November 2026.
We present a continuous hyperpolarized 13C MRI framework for phase‐resolved imaging of myocardial metabolism throughout the entire cardiac cycle. By combining spectral‐spatial bicarbonate excitation with frequency‐shifted reconstruction of residual pyruvate signal, both metabolites are obtained from a single acquisition.
