Advanced Technology for 3D Nanoprinting

open access: yesProceedings International, 2020
Today, additive manufacturing research and development rely heavily on 3D printing. While there is a wide choice of commercial 3D printers, few reach nanometer resolution and feature size. The difficulties arise from special high precision required for materials delivery and registry among layers in the printing process. Scanning probe microscopy (SPM)

Fast Hydrogel Micro‐Actuators Driven by Electric Fields

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We report the fabrication of chemically programmable electroactuating microstructures through the first integration of two‐photon polymerization with electrically actuated gelatin methacrylate‐based hydrogels. By tailoring the charge of the polymer network, we demonstrate programmable polarity‐dependent bending, enabling microstructures that ...

Direct-Write 3D Nanoprinting of Plasmonic Structures

open access: yesACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, 2016
During the past decade, significant progress has been made in the field of resonant optics ranging from fundamental aspects to concrete applications. While several techniques have been introduced for the fabrication of highly defined metallic nanostructures, the synthesis of complex, free-standing three-dimensional (3D) structures is still an ...

Grating‐Lens Empowered Metafiber for Large‐Angle Light Collection With 3D Nanoprinted Structures

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
A grating‐lens‐based Metafiber enables efficient light coupling into single‐mode fibers at large incidence angles. By combining diffraction and focusing on the fiber facet using a 3D nanoprinted holographic structure, light is selectively coupled only at specific angles while suppressing unwanted signals. This approach achieves high coupling efficiency
