Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Synthesis of 4-Diphosphocytidyl-2-C-methyl-d-erythritol and 2-C-Methyl-d-erythritol-4-phosphate
2-C-Methyl-d-erythritol 4-phosphate (MEP, 2) and 4-diphosphocytidyl-2-C-methyl-d-erythritol (CDPME, 3) are metabolites in the MEP pathway for biosynthesis of isoprenoid compounds in bacteria, plant chloroplasts, and algae.

NUT-charged black holes in matter-coupled N=2, D=4 gauged supergravity [PDF]
Using the results of arXiv:0804.0009, where all timelike supersymmetric backgrounds of N=2, D=4 matter-coupled supergravity with Fayet-Iliopoulos gauging were classified, we construct genuine nut-charged BPS black holes in AdS_4 with nonconstant moduli ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Preeclampsia risk, maternal 25-hydroxyvitamin D concentration, and variation in vitamin D metabolism pathway genes [PDF]
OBJECTIVE: Our objectives were to study the relationships between 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D) and preeclampsia risk, maternal genetic variation in 3 vitamin D metabolism genes (GC, CYP27B1, VDR) and preeclampsia risk, and variation in the same genes ...

A mutant of Mycobacterium smegmatis has been isolated that is simultaneously resistant to both D-cycloserine (D-CS) and vancomycin. Genetic complementation with a PBP4 homolog restores sensitivity to both drugs.

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Diagnosis and Treatment of Clonal Myeloproliferative Neoplasms with Eosinophilia
Aim. Based on our own materials to characterize the clinical manifestations of hypereosinophilic states distinguishing between reactive eosinophilia (RE), clonal myeloproliferative neoplasms with eosinophilia (MPN-eo), and myeloproliferative variant of ...
