Effect of 6-hydroxydopamine on morphine analgesia
Psychopharmacologia, 1972The influence of 6-OHDA on morphine analgesia estimated by the hot-plate method was investigated in rats. 6-OHDA injected intraventricularly at a dose of 250 Μg/rat, significantly and specifically depleted catecholamines from the brain. Morphine (7.5 mg/kg) produced a prominent analgesia in untreated and sham-injected rats whilst the reaction times of ...

Behavioural effects of neonatal systemic 6-hydroxydopamine
Neuropharmacology, 1978Abstract Rats were injected systemically (2 × 50 μg/g) with 6-hydroxydopamine either on the first, fifth or tenth day of life. Whereas brain dopamine was generally unaffected, norepinephrine assays during adult-hood showed age-dependent effects of the injections, with the greatest effect observed after injections on day 1.

Evaluation of methods for determining 6-hydroxydopamine cytotoxicity
In Vitro, 1980The toxic effects of 6-hydroxydopamine on the human neuroblastoma cell line SK-N-SH-SY5Y(SY5Y) and the Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cell line were measured with five viability assays. Four of the assays (attachment efficiency, plating efficiency, amino acid incorporation into acid-precipitable proteins, and Trypan Blue dye exclusion) showed higher drug ...

The Effect of 6-Hydroxydopamine on the Rabbit Cochlea
Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 19756-OH-DA is an isomer of noradrenalin which is selectively taken up by adrenergic axons. Noradrenalin stores are displaced by 6-OH-DA and at a certain intraneuronal concentration, degeneration of the terminals occurs and results in a chemical sympathectomy.

Chemical Sympathectomy with 6-Hydroxydopamine
1970The removal or destruction of an organ to elucidate its physiological role is one of the oldest and most commonly used methods in biological research. This principle has found extensive application in the investigation of the physiology and pharmacology of the sympathetic nervous system [Cannon and Rosenblueth, 1949; Trendelenburg, 1963 (1, 2)].

Effect of ceruloplasmin on 6-hydroxydopamine oxidation.
Biochemistry and molecular biology international, 1996The effects of ceruloplasmin, a blu copper-containing serum glycoprotein, on the oxidation of the neurotoxin 6-hydroxydopamine in several chemical environments were studied. The spontaneous autoxidation of 6-hydroxydopamine proceeded by a free radical chain reaction involving O2-.

Effect of 6-hydroxydopamine on retinal development in the chick
Experientia, 1974Huhnerembryonen wurden am 3. und 8. Inkubationstag mit 6-Hydroxydopamin behandelt. Die histologische Analyse der Retina ergab am 19. Tag eine charakteristische Hemmung der Photorezeptoren (Stabchen und Zapfen).

Effect of 6-hydroxydopamine on rat heart noradrenaline
European Journal of Pharmacology, 1971Abstract The rapid release and prolonged decrease of noradrenaline in rat heart caused by 6-hydroxydopamine was studied. The site and manner of the NA-releasing and specific nerve degenerating action of 6-hydroxydopamine was investigated using desmethylimipramine, reserpine and inhibitors of catecholamine metabolism.

A 6-Hydroxydopamine In Vivo Model of Parkinson’s Disease
2012Animal models of Parkinson's disease are essential to explore pathophysiological hypotheses and to test new treatment options, including neurotrophic factors. Catecholaminergic neurotoxins used to generate such models are 6-hydroxydopamine and 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine.
