Action Mechanism of Essential Oils or Their Components Against Pathogenic Bacteria: Literature Review

open access: yesInternational Journal of Microbiology, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Essential oils (EOs), derived from medicinal and aromatic plants, are natural mixtures of volatile, oily compounds with varying compositions and antibacterial mechanisms. Understanding the mechanisms of EOs and their components (EOCs) is essential for predicting their impacts on various microbes and their interactions with antibiotics.

Investigating the Effect of Nanoemulsions Containing Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) Essential Oil on the Microbial and Oxidative Stability of Mayonnaise

open access: yesJournal of Food Processing and Preservation, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
This study investigated the effects of yarrow (Achillea millefolium) essential oil (YE) and its nanoemulsion (NEYE), at concentrations of 1% and 2%, on oxidative stability and microbial growth of mayonnaise stored for 45 days at 4°C. NEYEs were characterized with a particle size ranging from 75.5 to 152.65 nm, with a polydispersity index (PDI) of 0.7–0.

Molar heat capacities of the mixture {1,8-cineole + ethanol} at several temperatures and atmospheric pressure [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Chemical Thermodynamics, 2016
Molar heat capacities at atmospheric pressure have been determined every 5 K for the mixture {1, 8-cineole (1) + ethanol (2)} in the temperature interval (304.7 to 324.5) K and the whole composition range with a Calvet type calorimeter Setaram C80. From the molar heat capacities, excess molar heat capacities have been calculated, their values being ...
