Addition of oh8dG to Cardioplegia Attenuated Myocardial Oxidative Injury through the Inhibition of Sodium Bicarbonate Cotransporter Activity

open access: yesAntioxidants, 2022
The biomarker 8-hydroxy-2′-deoxyguanosine (oh8dG) is derived from oxidized nucleic acids or products of oxidant-mediated DNA damage. Enhanced sodium bicarbonate cotransporter (NBC) activity is caused by reactive oxygen species (ROS) production in ...

Mechanisms of Aristolochic Acid Resistance in Specialist Butterflies and Evolutionary Insights for Potential Protective Pathways

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The study provides an extreme example of insect adaptation to highly toxic defenses of host plants, and investigates the complex strategies to resist carcinogenic aristolochic acids, including physical isolation, metabolic detoxification, and DNA repair.

The Predictive Value of 8-Hydroxy-Deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) Serum Concentrations in Irradiated Non-Small Cell Lung Carcinoma (NSCLC) Patients

open access: yesBiomedicines
Ionizing radiation is strongly linked to direct or indirect DNA damage, as with the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), which in turn produce DNA damage products, such as 8-hydroxy-2-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG).

Korelasi Kadar 8-Hydroxy-2-Deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) Serum Dengan Derajat Defisit Neurologis pada Strok Iskemik

open access: yesMajalah Kedokteran Bandung, 2014
Increased oxidative stress and free radicals can cause neuron cell damage. Serum 8-hydroxy-2-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) concentration is the result of free radical interactions with cluster C8 guanine bases, which is used to assess the degree of neuron ...

Effects of biliverdin administration on acute lung injury induced by hemorrhagic shock and resuscitation in rats. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Hemorrhagic shock and resuscitation induces pulmonary inflammation that leads to acute lung injury. Biliverdin, a metabolite of heme catabolism, has been shown to have potent cytoprotective, anti-inflammatory, and anti-oxidant effects.

Biomimetic Iridium‐Based Photothermal Nanozyme to Trigger Ferroptosis and Pyroptosis and Activate the cGAS‐STING Pathway for Improved Tumor Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study develops an iridium‐based nanozyme (IIN@M) with superior enzyme‐like activity and photothermal performance. It disrupts intracellular redox balance by generating reactive oxygen species and depleting glutathione, which synergistically induces ferroptosis, pyroptosis, and immunogenic cell death.

Effects of an 8-Week Aerobic Exercise Program on Some Indicators of Oxidative Stress in Elderly Women

open access: yesSālmand, 2019
Objectives Oxidative stress has an important role in the pathogenesis of diseases such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes and aging. The present study investigated the effects of 8 weeks of aerobic training on 8-hydroxy-2′-deoxyguanosine and ...

Protocol and rationale-the efficacy of minocycline as an adjunctive treatment for major depressive disorder: a double blind, randomised, placebo controlled trial [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
While current pharmacotherapies are efficacious, there remain a clear shortfall between symptom remission and functional recovery. With the explosion in our understanding of the biology of these disorders, the time is ripe for the investigation of novel ...

Comparison of Urinary Levels of 8-Hydroxy-2’-deoxyguanosine between Young Females with and without Depressive Symptoms during Different Menstrual Phases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This study aimed to clarify the association between depressive symptoms and a marker of oxidative stress-induced DNA damage in young females. Since the menstrual cycle may confound or modify this association, depressive symptoms and urinary levels of 8 ...
