A cross-sectional study of the filarial and Leishmania co-endemicity in two ecologically distinct settings in Mali

open access: yesParasites & Vectors, 2018
Background Filariasis and leishmaniasis are two neglected tropical diseases in Mali. Due to distribution and associated clinical features, both diseases are of concern to public health.

The Improved Bounce Solution of SU(2)-Higgs Model

open access: yes, 1993
We further develop the reduced action formalism of the SU(2)-Higgs model originally given by Aoyama et.al.. Our new ansatz for the sphaleron solution makes it possible to apply this formalism to all range of the Higgs self coupling constant. Based on the

Exploring an Alternative to mRNA Vaccine Cold Chain Storage: MRNA‐Lipid Nanoparticle Stability When Dried in a Polymer Matrix

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The nanostructure, size, and function of mRNA‐loaded lipid nanoparticles are evaluated before drying, within polymer microneedles, and after rehydration. The results reveal the polymer and LNP loadings required to recover nanostructure and preserve the delivery performance in dry‐state formulations.

New Guaian-type Sesquiterpene from

open access: yesNatural Product Communications, 2014
From a MeOH extract of powdered roots of Wikstroemia indica , we isolated a new guaian-type sesquiterpene (1) and two known guaian-type sesquiterpenes [oleodaphnal (2) , 1α,7α,10α H -guaia-4,11-dien-3-one (3) ], together with twelve known compounds ...

Large-N Collective Field Theory Applied to Anyons in Magnetic Fields

open access: yes, 1993
We present a large-$N$ collective field formalism for anyons in external magnetic fields interacting with arbitrary two-body potential. We discuss how the Landau level is reproduced in our framework.

NLO correction to Higgs boson parameters in the 1/N expansion [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
We present the result of a calculation of the next-to-leading correction to the Higgs propagator in the 1/N expansion, where the Higgs sector is treated as an O(N) symmetric sigma-model. The results are compared with two-loop perturbation theory.

Dual‐Salt Carbothermal Shock Strategy Enabling Ultrafast and Sustainable Regeneration of Spent LiFePO4 Cathode Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Lithium iron phosphate (LFP) accounts for over 50% of the global cathode market, underscoring the need for efficient recycling and regeneration. We propose a dual‐salt carbothermal shock (CTS) strategy using LiI and NaI to in situ repair Li vacancies.

Exploring the performance of the spectrometer prisma in heavy zirconium and xenon mass regions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We present results from two recent runs which illustrate the performance of the PRISMA spectrometer in the proximity of the upper limit of its operational interval, namely 96Zr + 124Sn at Elab = 500 MeV and 136Xe + 208Pb at Elab = 930 MeV.

Plasmonic Enhancement of Fluorescence and Protein Dynamics in Living Mammalian Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates plasmonic enhancement of the function of fluorescent voltage sensing proteins (genetically encoded voltage indicators, (GEVIs), QuasAr6) in live mammalian cells. Coupling to plasmonic nanoparticles does not just increase fluorescence, but influences the protein photocycle, creating a hybrid sensor with its response speed to ...

Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and
