A Metric for Quantifying Spatial Heterogeneity in Gridded Atmospheric Fields

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, Volume 13, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract Spatial heterogeneity influences many nonlinear atmospheric processes but it is often described qualitatively or with simple statistical measures that do not capture spatial organization. We introduce a mixing‐oriented metric for gridded fields based on the expected deviation of subdomain means from the global average.

NORi: An ML‐Augmented Ocean Boundary Layer Parameterization

open access: yesJournal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems, Volume 18, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract NORi is a machine learning (ML) parameterization of ocean boundary layer (BL) turbulence that is physics‐based and augmented with neural networks. NORi stands for neural ordinary differential equations Richardson number (Ri) closure. The physical parameterization is controlled by a Richardson number‐dependent diffusivity and viscosity.

A Coupled LBM‐FDEM Framework for Simulating Solute Transport and Mineral Dissolution Under H‐M‐C Conditions

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract The injection of CO2 into geological reservoirs can acidify the reservoir environment, leading to the dissolution of mineral grains and increasing the risk of CO2 leakage. A deeper understanding of these micro‐scale dissolution mechanisms is therefore essential for the safety of geological CO2 sequestration.

Quantile‐Dependent Volatility Interconnectedness Between Commodity Markets, Oil Price Uncertainty, and Global Supply Chain Pressure

open access: yesAustralian Economic Papers, Volume 65, Issue 3, Page 222-260, September 2026.
ABSTRACT This study examines volatility interconnectedness among selected agricultural commodities and precious/industrial metals, together with oil price uncertainty and global supply chain pressure, over the period January 1998 to June 2024 using a Quantile‐on‐Quantile connectedness framework.

Diverging in Vivo Immune Response Patterns After Oral Food Challenge in Peanut Allergic Adults

open access: yesClinical &Experimental Allergy, Volume 56, Issue 9, Page 1063-1075, September 2026.
After the oral food challenge, peanut (PN)‐allergic adults were monitored over 4 weeks, which revealed diverging immune response patterns, with strong responders (SR) exhibiting heightened Ara h 2+ B cell expansion, PN sIgE induction and increasing PN‐specific Tconv. Weak responders (WR) had more activated PN‐specific Tregs.
