To summarize the regulation of cPLA2, we have proposed a model for the activation of cPLA2 based both on our previous studies (Clark et al., 1991; Lin et al., 1993) and the work of many others (Fig. 5). In this model, cPLA2 is tightly regulated by multiple pathways, including those that control Ca2+ concentration, phosphorylation states and cPLA2 ...

When platelets are stimulated to aggregate and secrete by a sub-maximal concentration of an agonist, the platelets on the outside of an aggregate appear more degranulated than those on the inside (1) (fig. 1). In the example shown, aggregation of rabbit platelet-rich plasma (PRP) was induced by a sub-maximal concentration of collagen.

Phospholipase A2 (PLA2) catalytic activity was measured in aqueous extracts of 83 freeze-dried specimens representing 55 marine sponge species collected from the east coast of Australia including the Great Barrier Reef. High levels (>500 u/l) of PLA2 activity (defined as the amount of activity that releases 1 micromol of fatty acid per min) were found ...

Phospolipase A(2) (PLA(2)) is the esterase activity that cleaves the sn-2 ester bond in glycerophospholipids, releasing free fatty acids and lysophospholipids. The PLA(2) activity is found in a variety of enzymes which can be divided in several types based on their Ca(2+) dependence for their activity; Ca(2+)-dependent secretory phosholipases (sPLA(2)s)

Anti-thromboxane A2 actions of pinane thromboxane A2 derivatives
Prostaglandins, Leukotrienes and Medicine, 1982Six pinane-thromboxane A2 analogs have been synthesized and tested for their ability to antagonize carbocyclic thromboxane A2 (CTA2) induced coronary vasoconstriction and prostaglandin endoperoxide analog induced platelet aggregation. Two of the derivatives, 5C-15S BPTA2 and 5T-15S BPTA2 and 5T-15S BPTA2 (1 microM) showed 76 +/- 3 and 72 +/- 9 percent ...

Synthesis and properties of adenylate trimers A2′p5′A2′p5′A, A2′p5′A3′p5′A and A3′p5′A2′p5′A
Tetrahedron Letters, 1980Abstract Triadenylates with (2′-5′)(2′-5′) and mixed (2′-5′)(3′-5′) and (3′-5′)(2′-5′) linkages respectively were synthesized via the phosphotriester approach followed by deblocking of the fully protected intermediates. The isomeric trimers were characterized by NMR- and CD-spectra and show very similar hypochromicity effects.

Extracellular Phospholipase A2
1992Various lipids have been implicated in signal transduction and as precursors of lipid mediators, among them arachidonic acid (Dennis et al., 1991). Production of the prostaglandins, thromboxanes, and prostacyclins via the cyclooxygenase pathway, as well as the production of the leukotrienes and lipoxins via the lipoxygenase pathway, all depend on the ...
