Antiviral Resistance in Influenza: Clinical and Public Health Implications
ABSTRACT Timely antiviral treatment and prevention can diminish the morbidity and mortality caused by influenza seasonal, zoonotic, and pandemic infections. However, the emergence of antiviral resistance threatens the utility of available agents and sometimes contributes to poor clinical outcomes.

Transmission routes of influenza A(H1N1)pdm09: analyses of inflight outbreaks [PDF]
AbstractKnowledge about the infection transmission routes is significant for developing effective intervention strategies. We searched the PubMed databases and identified 10 studies with 14 possible inflight influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 outbreaks. Considering the different mechanisms of the large-droplet and airborne routes, a meta-analysis of the outbreak ...

HI titers against influenza A(H1N1)pdm09.
HI titers against influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 in seropositive individuals (HI ≥10) in May 2010 and May 2011. Horizontal bars show medians, while boxes show 25th and 75th percentiles. Sera were not titrated further than 640.

COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF PATHOGENICITY OF INFLUENZA A(H5N1) AND A(H1N1)pdm09 VIRUSES IN MICE [PDF]
Aim. Compare the degree of pathogenicity of newly emerging influenza virus strains with pandemic potential by experimental infection of BALB/c mice with highly pathogenic avian influenza A(H5N1) virus and mouse adapted pandemic influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 ...

Clinical outcomes of patients treated with intravenous zanamivir for severe influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 infection: A case report series [PDF]
Background: Intravenous (IV) zanamivir could be a suitable alternative for the treatment of severe influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 infection in patients who are unable to take oral or inhaled medication, for example, those on mechanical ventilation and ...

Circulation of Influenza and Other Respiratory Viruses in Tunisia, 2022–2023 Season
ABSTRACT Introduction Influenza sentinel surveillance has been ongoing in Tunisia since 1999. We describe the epidemiology of respiratory viruses during 2022–2023, the first season to include testing for other respiratory viruses, such as respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).

Adaptation of influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 virus in experimental mouse models
In the present study, three mouse-adapted variants of influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 virus were obtained by lung-to-lung passages of BALB/c, C57BL/6z and CD1 mice. The significantly increased virulence and pathogenicity of all of the mouse-adapted variants induced 100% mortality in the adapted mice.

ABSTRACT The 2024/2025 influenza season in Italy was characterised by cocirculation of influenza A and B viruses. Monitoring influenza vaccine effectiveness (IVE) remains essential to guide public health policy due to antigenic shifts and varying strain circulation.
