On the high-order topological asymptotic expansion for shape functions

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2016
This article concerns the topological sensitivity analysis for the Laplace operator with respect to the presence of a Dirichlet geometry perturbation. Two main results are presented in this work.

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

Time-symmetric initial data for binary black holes in numerical relativity

open access: yes, 2003
We look for physically realistic initial data in numerical relativity which are in agreement with post-Newtonian approximations. We propose a particular solution of the time-symmetric constraint equation, appropriate to two momentarily static black holes,

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.

Long‐Term Follow‐Up of Chemotherapy‐Associated Biological Aging in Women With Early Breast Cancer

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Women threated with adjuvant chemotherapy for early breast cancer have sustained long‐term increase in p16INK4a,, a robust marker of cell senescence, suggesting a chemotherapy‐associated age acceleration. p16INK4a as well as other biomarkers may identify patients at greatest risk for senescence‐related diseases of aging.

Unraveling the Molecular Mechanisms of Glioma Recurrence: A Study Integrating Single‐Cell and Spatial Transcriptomics

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Glioma recurrence severely impacts patient prognosis, with current treatments showing limited efficacy. Traditional methods struggle to analyze recurrence mechanisms due to challenges in assessing tumor heterogeneity, spatial dynamics, and gene networks.

Relating static shifts in the ESR spectra of a nitroxide radical in solution to second order perturbation theory

open access: yesConcepts in Magnetic Resonance Part A, 2007
AbstractUsing perturbation theory, expressions were derived for the six energy levels resulting from the interaction between the spin (1/2 or −1/2) of the unpaired electron and the nuclear spin (1, 0, or −1) of the nitrogen nucleus in a nitroxide radical in solution.

PLASTICITY AREA AT THE THREE DIMENSIONAL CURVED ELASTICITY-PLASTICITY CRACK TIP UNDER QUASI-STATIC LOAD

open access: yesJixie qiangdu, 2018
In this article, three dimensional elastic-plastic curved crack tip plasticity area under quasi-static loads has been mainly studied, and three dimensional curved crack tip plasticity area has been calculated as a practical application of a second order ...

Influence of Shear Deformation and Rotary Intertia on Nonlinear Free Vibration of a Beam with Pinned Ends

open access: yesJournal of King Saud University: Engineering Sciences, 1998
The method of multiple scales is used to analyze the nonlinear vibrations of a beam with pinned ends. The formulation incorporates the effects of the transverse shear deformation as well as the rotary inertia on the large-amplitude vibration behaviour. A

Thermodynamics and short-range correlations of the XXZ chain close to its triple point

open access: yes, 2010
The XXZ quantum spin chain has a triple point in its ground state $h$-$1/\Delta$ phase diagram. This first order critical point is located at the joint end point of the two second order phase transition lines marking the transition from the gapless phase
