Aortic calcification and abdominal aortic aneurysm expansion [PDF]
To the Editor: We read with great interest the recent publication by Dr Lindholt1. In this study the severity of aortic calcification was inversely correlated with the growth rate of small abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA). The author’s finding fits with a recent study by our group demonstrating that AAA growth was reduced in diabetic patients2.

Abdominal aortic calcification in patients with CKD [PDF]
Abdominal aortic calcification (AAC) is independently associated with cardiovascular events in dialysis patients and in the general population. However, data in non-dialysis chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients are limited. We analyzed determinants and prognostic value of AAC in non-dialysis CKD patients. We included patients with CKD not receiving ...

Extracellular matrix composition and remodeling in human abdominal aortic aneurysms: a proteomics approach. [PDF]
Abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) are characterized by pathological remodeling of the aortic extracellular matrix (ECM). However, besides the well-characterized elastolysis and collagenolysis little is known about changes in other ECM proteins.

Geography, private costs and uptake of screening for abdominal aortic aneurysm in a remote rural area. [PDF]
BACKGROUND: The relationship between geographical location, private costs, health provider costs and uptake of health screening is unclear. This paper examines these relationships in a screening programme for abdominal aortic aneurysm in the Highlands ...

Abdominal Aortic Calcification in Living Kidney Donors
This study assesses the association between abdominal aortic calcification (AAC) and renal function of living kidney donors and evaluate AAC as a surrogate marker for nephrosclerosis.Between January 2010 and March 2013, 287 donors who underwent living donor nephrectomy were enrolled.
