The Antiviral Activity of Polyphenols
Polyphenols demonstrate remarkable antiviral properties by effectively disrupting multiple biochemical processes essential for viral replication. ABSTRACT Polyphenols are secondary metabolites produced by a large variety of plants. These compounds that comprise the class of phenolic acids, stilbenes, lignans, coumarins, flavonoids, and tannins have a ...

Antioxidative Activities of Various Fractions of Gedi's Leaf Extracts (Abelmoschus Manihot L. Medik)
AbstractThis study aimed to investigate antioxidative activities of various fractions of Abelmoschus manihot leaf extract. The fractions were separated based on polarity and the antioxidant activities of each of them were determined. The leaves were extracted using hexane, acetone and methanol serially.

Identification of flavonoid from leaves of gedi (Abelmoschus manihot L.) and its antioxidant activity [PDF]
A flavonoid compound had been isolated from Abelmoschus manihotL. leaves. The leaves extract was obtained by maceration in methanol to obtain n-hexane-acetone-methanol sequential extracts. Further separation was done by flash chromatography using silica gel G - 60 as a stationary phase.

Locating Traces of Arboreal Beings: Connecting the Tree and the Woodblock
ABSTRACT Woodblocks for printmaking are multi‐perspectival communicators inscribed with layered narratives. The artistic process of cutting excavates the surface of a woodblock, making visible lesser‐seen traces of the past, reflective of the practice of archaeology.

Bioactive Polysaccharides Targeting Gut Microbiota to Modulate Host Health: A Gear Effect Theory
The “Gear Effect” mechanism of bioactive polysaccharides driving gut microbiota to modulate host health. ABSTRACT Bioactive polysaccharides are macromolecular polymers with broad biological activities. Recent evidence has highlighted their role in modulating host health primarily through interactions with gut microbiota.

Summary We investigated the impact of leaf color variation on herbivory, testing current hypotheses indicating that leaf color could influence herbivory through bottom‐up control (by signaling leaf quality and defenses) or top‐down control (by attracting predators).

ABSTRACT The present study is to develop a cost‐effective, non‐destructive and rapid method for quantification of syringyl/guaiacyl (S/G) ratio content in non‐wood lignin, which is based on FT‐NIR spectroscopic data and chemometric modelling techniques. The S/G ratio in 22 non‐wood lignins was determined by wet chemical method.
