Abietane diterpenoids (e.g., carnosic acid, aethiopinone, 1-oxoaethiopinone, salvipisone, and ferruginol) synthesized in the roots of several Salvia species have proved to have promising biological activities, but their use on a large scale is limited by

In vitro evaluation of new terpenoid derivatives against Leishmania infantum and Leishmania braziliensis. [PDF]
The activity of five (1-5) abietane phenol derivatives against Leishmania infantum and Leishmania braziliensis was studied using promastigotes and axenic and intracellular amastigotes.

Batch and flow electrochemical methods enable direct C‐7 oxidation of abietic and dehydroabietic acids from colophony or their methyl derivatives to the corresponding ketones, while a mediated protocol enables additional C‐15 oxygenation, providing sustainable and selective routes to diversified abietane derivatives.

The graphical abstract illustrates the flowchart for the isolation and evaluation of bioactive compounds from Hedychium coronarium. Crude extracts were obtained via cold percolation from the aerial parts (flowers, leaves, and stems) using dichloromethane (DCM) and from the rhizomes using chloroform.

The last forests on Antarctica: Reconstructing flora and temperature from the Neogene Sirius Group, Transantarctic Mountains [PDF]
Fossil-bearing deposits in the Transantarctic Mountains, Antarctica indicate that, despite the cold nature of the continent’s climate, a tundra ecosystem grew during periods of ice sheet retreat in the mid to late Neogene (17–2.5 Ma), 480 km from the ...

Diterpenoid Diversity across Land Plants
Here we bridge the knowledge of diterpene chemical diversity, biosynthesis, and evolution from nonvascular mosses and liverworts to that known from vascular plants. ABSTRACT The diverse array of diterpenoid natural products stems from the ease of manipulating the promiscuity of diterpene cyclases.
