Improvement and In-Situ Application of an Evaluation Method of Ballasted-Track Condition Using Digital 2-D Image Analysis

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
The advancement in digital image analysis methods has led to the development of various techniques, i.e., quantification of ballast gravel abrasion. In this study, the recognition rate of gravel aggregates has been significantly increased by improving ...

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Multiphase-based predictive framework construction of abrasive wear performance in C–V–Cr–Mo alloys

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
Abrasive wear persists as the dominant failure mechanism in crushing equipment, driving the demand for predictive models to guide wear-resistant alloy design and equipment lifespan assessment.

Transcriptional profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles from prebiopsy prostate cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RNA profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) from blood samples of men undergoing prostate biopsy identifies transcripts associated with clinically significant prostate cancer. Integrative analysis with public tumor datasets links EV‐derived gene signatures to tumor stage and progression‐free survival, highlighting CASP3, XRCC2, and RIT1 ...

Adaptor protein CIN85 potentiates the motility of osteosarcoma cells via the Akt/mTOR and MMP2‐COL3A1 axis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CIN85 is highly expressed in osteosarcoma, particularly in metastatic lesions. Its overexpression increases cell migration and Matrigel invasion, while silencing CIN85 suppresses these behaviors. Transcriptome analysis shows that CIN85 regulates MMP2, COL3A1, and Akt/mTOR signaling. Targeting these pathways reverses CIN85‐induced motility, highlighting

Role of fracture toughness in impact-abrasion wear

open access: yesWear, 2019
Two new low alloyed steels were developed with different fracture toughness values but at similar level of hardness with same composition and microstructural phase. The steels were subjected to impact-abrasion wear test.

A study of the wear process related to twin-screw extruders [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Extruders are used in a wide range of process industries and high reliability is essential if cost effective manufacturing is to be maintained. A critical part of twin-screw extruders is the barrel that must withstand many different wear and corrosion ...

Tribo-corrosion of steel in artificial saliva

open access: yes, 2014
Stainless steel is widely used as dental implant. However, there has been little work on the micro-abrasion of such materials in laboratory simulated oral environments, where abrasion, sliding wear can interact simultaneously.

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

Underwater abrasion of steel fiber-reinforced self-compacting concrete

open access: yes, 2019
Hundreds of tons of concrete may be ruined due to the abrasion erosion phenomenon that takes place in several hydraulic structures. Such unfavorable action can impose high maintenance costs and reduce the life span of these structures.
