An absorbing boundary condition (ABC) is particularly important for finite element simulation of wave propagation in a multilayered medium. In this paper, a spatially and temporally local high-order absorbing boundary condition is proposed for scalar ...

Equivalent Boundary Conditions for Heterogeneous Acoustic Media
In this work, we have worked on possibilities to model artificial boundaries needed in the simulation of wave propagation in acoustic heterogeneous media.

Absorbing boundary conditions for inertial random processes [PDF]
A recent paper by J. Heinrichs [Phys. Rev. E 48, 2397 (1993)] presents analytic expressions for the first-passage times and the survival probability for a particle moving in a field of random correlated forces. We believe that the analysis there is flawed due to an improper use of boundary conditions.

Acoustoelastic FD Simulation of Elastic Wave Propagation in Prestressed Media
Insights into wave propagation in prestressed media are important in geophysical applications such as monitoring changes in geo-pressure and tectonic stress. This can be addressed by acoustoelasticity theory, which accounts for nonlinear strain responses

The time-fractional Cattaneo (TFC) equation is a practical tool for simulating anomalous dynamics in physical diffusive processes. The existing numerical solutions to the TFC equation generally deal with the Dirichlet boundary conditions.

Absorbing boundary conditions [PDF]
The GIBCs discussed in the preceding chapters were designed to simulate the surface properties of a scatterer, thereby eliminating the need to consider fields interior to the body. There is, however, another purpose for approximate boundary conditions, and this is to create a boundary which does not perturb a field incident upon it-in effect, to ...

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Exponential Attractor for the Boussinesq Equation with Strong Damping and Clamped Boundary Condition
The paper studies the existence of exponential attractor for the Boussinesq equation with strong damping and clamped boundary condition utt-Δu+Δ2u-Δut-Δg(u)=f(x). The main result is concerned with nonlinearities g(u) with supercritical growth.
