Innovative technology for insulating the borehole absorbing horizons with thermoplastic materials [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2019
The purpose of the work is to increase the insulation work efficiency by using thermoplastic mixes based on polyethylene terephthalate. The tasks set were solved by a complex method of research, including the analysis and synthesis of the literary and ...

Self-organized criticality as an absorbing-state phase transition [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
We explore the connection between self-organized criticality and phase transitions in models with absorbing states. Sandpile models are found to exhibit criticality only when a pair of relevant parameters - dissipation epsilon and driving field h - are ...

The universality class of absorbing phase transitions with a conserved field [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
We investigate the critical behavior of systems exhibiting a continuous absorbing phase transition in the presence of a conserved field coupled to the order parameter.

Evidence for directed percolation universality at the onset of spatiotemporal intermittency in coupled circle maps [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
We consider a lattice of coupled circle maps, a model arising naturally in descriptions of solid state phenomena such as Josephson junction arrays. We find that the onset of spatiotemporal intermittency (STI) in this system is analogous to directed ...

Absorbing Sets in Quantum LDPC Codes

open access: yes, 2023
Iterative decoder failures of quantum low density parity check (QLDPC) codes are attributed to substructures in the code's graph, known as trapping sets, as well as degenerate errors that can arise in quantum codes. Failure inducing sets are subsets of codeword coordinates that, when initially in error, lead to decoding failure in a trapping set.

Absorbing set spectrum approach for practical code design [PDF]

open access: yes2011 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory Proceedings, 2011
This paper focuses on controlling the absorbing set spectrum for a class of regular LDPC codes known as separable, circulant-based (SCB) codes. For a specified circulant matrix, SCB codes all share a common mother matrix, examples of which are array-based LDPC codes and many common quasi-cyclic codes.

On Constructing Strongly Connected Dominating and Absorbing Set in 3-Dimensional Wireless Ad Hoc Networks

open access: yesComplexity, 2020
In a wireless ad hoc network, the size of the virtual backbone (VB) is an important factor for measuring the quality of the VB. The smaller the VB is, the less the overhead caused by the VB.

Extraction of chemical information of suspensions using radiative transfer theory to remove multiple scattering effects : application to a model multicomponent system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The effectiveness of a scatter correction approach based on decoupling absorption and scattering effects through the use of the radiative transfer theory to invert a suitable set of measurements is studied by considering a model multicomponent suspension.

A Markov – Chain Model for the Tuberculosis in Salah Aldeen City (1991-1999) [PDF]

open access: yesالمجلة العراقية للعلوم الاحصائية, 2006
This paper studies a time series for the number of infection of Tuberculosis of the lungs as a Markov – chain. We have made hypotheses concerning the number of infections in order to set the problem according to Markov-chain.

Fractional Diffusion to a Cantor Set in 2D

open access: yesFractal and Fractional, 2020
A random walk on a two dimensional square in R2 space with a hidden absorbing fractal set Fμ is considered. This search-like problem is treated in the framework of a diffusion–reaction equation, when an absorbing term is included inside a Fokker–Planck ...
