The Impact of Foreign Direct Investment on Economic Growth in Host Countries [PDF]

open access: yesفصلنامه پژوهش‌های اقتصادی ایران, 2009
This paper investigates the effects of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) on economic growth. For this purpose we have set up a panel data for 67 countries during the years 1980-2004.All of these countries have been successful in absorbing FDI during this ...

SmoothHazard: An R Package for Fitting Regression Models to Interval-Censored Observations of Illness-Death Models

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Software, 2017
The irreversible illness-death model describes the pathway from an initial state to an absorbing state either directly or through an intermediate state. This model is frequently used in medical applications where the intermediate state represents illness

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Global dynamics of a reaction-diffusion system

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2011
In this work the existence of a global attractor for the semiflow of weak solutions of a two-cell Brusselator system is proved. The method of grouping estimation is exploited to deal with the challenge in proving the absorbing property and the ...

Stochastic Parity Games on Lossy Channel Systems [PDF]

open access: yesLogical Methods in Computer Science, 2015
We give an algorithm for solving stochastic parity games with almost-sure winning conditions on {\it lossy channel systems}, under the constraint that both players are restricted to finite-memory strategies.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Stability and absorbing set of parabolic chemotaxis model of Escherichia coli

open access: yesNonlinear Analysis, 2013
This paper is devoted to model (1) for escherichia coli, introduced in [1]. Based on the experimental observations of Budrene and Berg [2, 3], Tyson and coworkers derived (1) with n cell density, c chemotrattactant concentration and s stimulant ...

Preparation of Hu sheep wool/polyacrylonitrile oxidized fiber flame retardant and sound absorption material

open access: yesJournal of Industrial Textiles, 2022
The breeding scale of Hu sheep continues to expand in China. However, due to the low quality of Hu sheep wool and unsuitable for spinning medium and high-grade wool yarn, the purchase price of Hu sheep wool is low and even it is directly discarded.

Resonance spectra for quantum maps of kicked scattering systems by complex scaling

open access: yes, 2017
We consider quantum maps induced by periodically-kicked scattering systems and discuss the computation of their resonance spectra in terms of complex scaling and sufficiently weak absorbing potentials.
