Single-phase input reduced switch count AC-AC drive systems

Fourtieth IAS Annual Meeting. Conference Record of the 2005 Industry Applications Conference, 2005., 2005
In this paper, two AC-AC reduced-switch-count drive systems for single- to three-phase applications are proposed. Both drive systems provide bidirectional power flow and power factor control. The operating principles of the topologies are presented, and a control strategy is proposed in order to reduce the DC-link voltage required by the converters ...

Reversible AC Drive Systems Based on Parallel AC–AC DC-Link Converters

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 2010
In this paper, two reversible single-phase-to-three-phase ac drive systems are proposed. They are composed of an induction motor fed by two parallel single-phase-to-three-phase dc-link converters without isolation transformers. Suitable modeling and control strategy of the systems based on odq approach, including the unbalanced case, are developed. The

Regeneration for AC drive systems

Proceedings of 1994 IEEE/IAS Annual Textile, Fiber and Film Industry Technical Conference, 2002
The need for regenerated voltage control of an AC variable speed drive occurs when a mechanical system connected to an induction motor causes the motor to rotate at a higher frequency than the control frequency of the variable speed providing power to the motor.

Flexible Series/Parallel AC–DC–AC Motor Drive System

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 2015
This paper presents a three-phase ac–dc–ac drive system to cope with applications in which high performance and reliability are required with reduced dc-link and switch blocking voltages. The subsystem at the grid-side can be implemented into two alternatives, i.e., topologies G1 and G2.

A HIGH PERFORMANCE AC ELECTRIC DRIVE SYSTEM

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1967
<div class="htmlview paragraph">The recent advance in power handling capacity of semiconductor devices makes it possible to replace DC and AC commutator machines for variable speed applications by high-speed, light-weight, squirrel-cage induction motors.

An AC drive system for a battery driven moped

Proceedings of International Conference on Power Electronics, Drives and Energy Systems for Industrial Growth, 1996
A petrol driven moped is converted to an electric vehicle by replacing its petrol engine with a three-phase 1.5 hp, AC squirrel cage induction motor drive system. The motor voltage rating selected is 200 V to keep the DC boost voltage level to a reasonable value. The power source used is a high energy density, 24 V, 110 Ah, Ni-Zn battery.

A Research for AC Drive System of Electric Locomotive

2013 Fifth International Conference on Measuring Technology and Mechatronics Automation, 2013
Electric locomotive work in harsh conditions, for its drive system, the AC drive system is more adaptable than the DC drive system. A novel EMF-oriented vector control method is studied in AC drive system, and industrial test of the control strategy is feasible and effective.

AC drive as a peripheral for system-on-chip applications

Proceedings of the IEEE INDICON 2004. First India Annual Conference, 2004., 2005
The idea of creating a customized motor control peripheral, which can connect to a standard chip wide bus is presented. Since a peripheral can be used multiple times on the same chip, depending on the application and size of re-configurable device; it is useful for synchronized multi-motor control applications.

AC Drive System for Tension Reel Control

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 1985
Recently, adjustable-speed ac drive systems have been employed successfully for blowers, pumps, table rollers, etc., in steel plants instead of the more conventional dc drives. In processing lines many drives require speed and tension control. To confirm the suitability of an ac drive for tension control, the tension reel of an existing pilot ...

AC Drive Systems

1991
The speed of an AC motor depends on the speed of the rotating magnetic field, which is proportional to the frequency of the AC supply. Speed control is therefore possible with a power electronic controller which can generate a variable frequency. The majority of AC variable-speed drive systems use a DC/AC inverter to generate the required variable ...
