Identification and pathogenicity of Colletotrichum species associated with twig dieback of citrus in Western Australia

open access: yesPlant Pathology, Volume 73, Issue 5, Page 1194-1212, June 2024.
Citrus twig dieback in Western Australia was shown to be caused by Colletotrichum gloeosporioides, C. karstii and C. novae‐zelandiae. Abstract Up to 32 Colletotrichum species have been reported to be associated with pre‐ or postharvest diseases of citrus globally, while in Australia, six species have been reported to cause citrus leaf and fruit disease.

DNA demethylation by transitory 5‐azacytidine treatment improves somatic embryogenesis yield for regeneration and breeding of cork oak

open access: yesPhysiologia Plantarum, Volume 176, Issue 1, January/February 2024.
Abstract Somatic embryogenesis (SE) is a crucial biotechnological tool for large‐scale mass propagation of selected material, genetic transformation and breeding, with many advantages for forest tree improvement. However, the application of SE in forest species is limited because of their recalcitrance.
