On the existence of accretion-driven bursts in massive star formation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Accretion-driven luminosity outbursts are a vivid manifestation of variable mass accretion onto protostars. They are known as the so-called FU Orionis phenomenon in the context of low-mass protostars.

Combined spatially resolved metabolomics and spatial transcriptomics reveal the mechanism of RACK1‐mediated fatty acid synthesis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The authors analyzed the spatial distributions of gene and metabolite profiles in cervical cancer through spatial transcriptomic and spatially resolved metabolomic techniques. Pivotal genes and metabolites within these cases were then identified and validated.

Accretion of Planetary Material onto Host Stars

open access: yes, 2017
Accretion of planetary material onto host stars may occur throughout a star's life. Especially prone to accretion, extrasolar planets in short-period orbits, while relatively rare, constitute a significant fraction of the known population, and these ...

The accretion history of dark matter haloes - III. A physical model for the concentration-mass relation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We present a semi-analytic, physically motivated model for dark matter halo concentration as a function of halo mass and redshift. The semi-analytic model is intimately based on hierarchical structure formation.

Integrative systems‐level analysis reveals a contextual crosstalk between hypoxia and global metabolism in human breast tumors

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast tumor samples scored for metabolic deregulation (M1 to M3) were given a hypoxia score (HS). The highest HS occurred in patients with strongest metabolic deregulation (M3), supporting tumor aggressiveness. HS correlated with the highest number of metabolic pathways in M1. This suggests hypoxia to be an early event in metabolic deregulation.

Multiple sclerosis clinical decision support system based on projection to reference datasets

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, Volume 9, Issue 12, Page 1863-1873, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Objective Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a multifactorial disease with increasingly complicated management. Our objective is to use on‐demand computational power to address the challenges of dynamically managing MS. Methods A phase 3 clinical trial data (NCT00906399) were used to contextualize the medication efficacy of peg‐interferon beta‐1a vs ...

Magnetohydrodynamical modeling of star-disk formation: from isolated spherical collapse towards incorporation of external dynamics

open access: yesFrontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences
The formation of protostars and their disks has been understood as the result of the gravitational collapse phase of an accumulation of dense gas that determines the mass reservoir of the star-disk system.

Temporal (1948–2012) and Dynamic Evolution of the Wouri Estuary Coastline within the Gulf of Guinea

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2019
The Wouri estuary is located in the Gulf of Guinea on the Atlantic coast of Cameroon’s coastline plain (3°49′ and 4°04′ north latitude and 9°20′ to 9°40′ east longitude), and is strongly influenced by ...

Accretion onto a Kiselev black hole

open access: yes, 2017
We consider accretion onto a Kiselev black hole. We obtain the fundamental equations for accretion without the back-reaction. We determine the general analytic expressions for the critical points and the mass accretion rate and find the physical ...

COMPTON-THICK ACCRETION IN THE LOCAL UNIVERSE [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Heavily obscured accretion is believed to represent an important stage in the growth of supermassive black holes and to play an important role in shaping the observed spectrum of the cosmic X-ray background.
