Processing a Multilayer laminate sheet by accumulative roll bonding

International Journal of Applied Science and Engineering Research, 2013
In this work, AA7075/AA1100 multilayer sheet has been processed by accumulative roll-bonding to a large strain followed by a T6 heat treatment. The rolling work was done at the solution temperature of AA7075. The strength, microhardness and ductility of the ARB sheet have been increased. The microstructure had a UFG structure with average grain size of

Fracture of steel nanocomposite made using accumulative roll bonding

Materials Science and Technology, 2014
In this study, the fracture behaviour of steel based composite and nanocomposite fabricated by accumulative roll bonding process was investigated using scanning electron microscopy fractography. The nanocomposite failed through decohesion and then void nucleation and linking in the matrix near the reinforcement/matrix interface and without particle ...

Nanostructure formation during accumulative roll bonding of commercial purity titanium

Materials Characterization, 2016
Abstract In this investigation, commercial purity titanium (CP–Ti) was subjected to accumulative roll bonding (ARB) process up to 8 cycles (equivalent strain of 6.4) at the ambient temperature. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and X–ray diffraction line profile analysis (XRDLPA) were utilized to investigate the microstructure and grain size ...

Cu/Zr nanoscaled multi-stacks fabricated by accumulative roll bonding

Journal of Alloys and Compounds, 2010
Abstract In this paper, six pure Cu (99.96 mass%) and five pure Zr (99.8 mass%) sheets with overall composition of Cu 62 Zr 38 (at%) were alternatively stacked and severely deformed up to equivalent strain ( ɛ ) of 14.4 by accumulative roll bonding (ARB) technique at ambient temperature.

Recrystallization and Grain Growth in Accumulative Roll-Bonded Metal Composites

JOM, 2015
We examine recrystallization and grain growth during processing of accumulative roll-bonded (ARB) Cu-Nb and Zr-Nb composites. Throughout the ARB process, from initial millimeter thick layers down to nanometer thick layers, the mechanism for recrystallization and grain growth is the motion of high-angle grain boundaries (HAGBs).

Nano-grained copper strip produced by accumulative roll bonding process

Materials Science and Engineering: A, 2008
Accumulative roll bonding (ARB) process is a severe plastic deformation (SPD) process that has been used for pure copper (99.9%). The ARB process up to 8 cycles was performed at ambient temperature under unlubricated conditions. Microstructural characterizations were done by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and electron backscattered diffraction (

Accelerated grain refinement during accumulative roll bonding by nanoparticle reinforcement

Scripta Materialia, 2011
Ceramic nanoparticles produced by comminution are introduced homogeneously during accumulative roll bonding (ARB) in aluminium AA1050A by airgun spraying from a stabilized aqueous suspension. In the so-produced nanoparticle-reinforced ultrafine-grained material, acceleration of microstructural evolution during the early ARB cycles as well as reduced ...

Multilayer composite al99.99/almg3 sheets prepared by accumulative roll bonding

International Journal of Materials Research, 2009
Abstract Accumulative roll bonding (ARB) allows producing ultrafine-grained sheets of high strength and has been successfully used to prepare such materials from aluminium alloys. However, due to intensive work hardening of bond-rolled AlMg3 sheets, significant edge cracking occurred. Cracking was reduced by cladding AlMg3 with aluminium.

Al-based magnetic composites produced by accumulative roll bonding (ARB)

Materials Science and Engineering: B, 2016
Abstract Accumulative roll bonding (ARB) was used to fabricate Al/Ni (with two initial Ni thicknesses) and Al/Ni/Fe 3 O 4 composites. During ARB, Ni layers necked and fractured owing to the difference in flow properties of Al and Ni. In addition, large and elongated clusters of Fe 3 O 4 particles were broken into smaller ones and distributed ...

Mechanical Properties of an Accumulative Roll Bonded Aluminium Alloy Composite

Materials Science Forum, 2009
A multilayered sheet composite of commercial purity Al and Al-0.3%Sc alloys was produced by accumulative roll bonding. The final sheet material consisted of 64 ultra fine grained layers, each of ~7.8mm in thickness. The as-deformed material was annealed at temperatures ranging from 250 to 350°C to study the changes in microstructure and their ...
