Results of minimally invasive Achilles tendon scraping and plantaris tendon removal in patients with chronic midportion Achilles tendinopathy: A longer-term follow-up study

open access: yesSAGE Open Medicine, 2019
Background: Treatment with ultrasound and colour Doppler–guided minimally invasive Achilles tendon scraping and plantaris tendon removal has shown promising short-term results in patients with chronic painful midportion Achilles tendinopathy. Methods: In

A new strain energy function for modelling ligaments and tendons whose fascicles have a helical arrangement of fibrils [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biomechanics 48 (2015) 3017-3025, 2015
A new strain energy function for the hyperelastic modelling of ligaments and tendons whose fascicles have a helical arrangement of fibrils is derived. The stress-strain response of a single fascicle whose fibrils exhibit varying levels of crimp throughout its radius is calculated and used to determine the form of the strain energy function.

Return to play post-Achilles tendon rupture: a systematic review and meta-analysis of rate and measures of return to play

open access: yesBritish Journal of Sports Medicine, 2016
Aim This systematic review and meta-analysis sought to identify return to play (RTP) rates following Achilles tendon rupture and evaluate what measures are used to determine RTP. Design A systematic review and meta-analysis were performed.

Age‐specific over‐the‐top techniques for physeal sparing anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction in skeletally immature patients: Current concepts for prepubescents to older adolescents

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Tailored surgical strategies for anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction in skeletally immature patients are presented, emphasizing techniques to minimize growth plate damage and ensure stability. As ACL injuries in youth increase, delaying surgery can lead to joint damage and poor recovery outcomes.

Achilles Tendon Repair With Modified Giftbox Technique Using Nonabsorbable Suture Loops

open access: yesVideo Journal of Sports Medicine, 2021
Background: Achilles tendon ruptures occur most commonly in male individuals aged between 30 and 60 years. Indications: Surgical options for treatment of acute midsubstance Achilles tendon ruptures in the athletically active population include open, mini-

Spiro‐Ometad As A Promising Substrate In Biomedical Devices

open access: yesChemistryOpen, EarlyView.
Spiro‐OMeTAD has been used for the first time to prepare a conductive biopolymer with collagen. Stability and electronic properties have been investigated. In‐vitro cellular testing showed the non‐cytotoxicity of films, paving the way for new medical devices and biosensors.

Bridging Medical Data Inference to Achilles Tendon Rupture Rehabilitation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
Imputing incomplete medical tests and predicting patient outcomes are crucial for guiding the decision making for therapy, such as after an Achilles Tendon Rupture (ATR). We formulate the problem of data imputation and prediction for ATR relevant medical measurements into a recommender system framework.

Association of brachial‐ankle pulse wave velocity with subclinical diabetic peripheral neuropathy in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
This study investigates the relationship between brachial‐ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV) and subclinical diabetic peripheral neuropathy (sDPN) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Our findings reveal that elevated baPWV levels significantly increase the risk of sDPN, highlighting its potential as an important marker for early detection of sDPN.

The Risk of Achilles Tendon Rupture in the Patients with Achilles Tendinopathy: Healthcare Database Analysis in the United States

open access: yesBioMed Research International, 2017
Introduction. Disorders of the Achilles tendon can be broadly classified into acute and chronic entities. Few studies have established chronic Achilles tendinopathy as a precursor to acute Achilles ruptures.

Effectiveness of tele‐guidance for physiotherapy in older patients with type 2 diabetes: A randomized controlled trial

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
Comparison of clinical indices before and after intervention in both groups. ABSTRACT Aims/Introduction Whether regular intervention via modern communication tools is effective in older patients with type 2 diabetes is unclear. We aimed to determine the effects of tele‐guidance for physiotherapy on muscle strength in such patients.
