Effect of hydroxybenzoic acids antioxidants on the oxidative stability of sardine oil [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The antioxidant capacities of three derivatives of hydroxybenzoic acids (Gentisic acid, protochatechuic acid and vanillic acid) in sardine oil were compared.

Multiple ETS family transcription factors bind mutant p53 via distinct interaction regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mutant p53 gain‐of‐function is thought to be mediated by interaction with other transcription factors. We identify multiple ETS transcription factors that can bind mutant p53 and found that this interaction can be promoted by a PXXPP motif. ETS proteins that strongly bound mutant p53 were upregulated in ovarian cancer compared to ETS proteins that ...

Study of the influence of phosphoric acid in steel anaerobic corrosion via the hydrogen evolution reaction. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Although it is well known that the phosphate species are quiet electrochemically inert when considering their calculated redox potential, few studies since the end of 80’s reported electrochemical phenomenon observed in the reduction domain which were ...

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Methylmalonic acid values in healthy Dutch children

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Nutrition, 2007
Plasma methylmalonic acid (MMA) is a specific marker for functional cobalamin deficiency. This deficiency can give rise to non-specific but serious symptoms in childhood such as developmental delay, convulsions and failure to thrive and may even lead to irreversible neurological damage. To analyse plasma MMA concentrations in Dutch children and to ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...
