The Effect of Organic Compounds on the Electrochemical Behaviour of Steel in Acidic Media. A review.

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2008
This work attempts to detail selected relevant studies on the behaviour of steel in acidic media. Factors affect the inhibition efficiency of the organic compounds in acidic media were discussed; the effect of he structure, the effect of zero-charge ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

In situ monitoring of the transpassivation and repassivation of the passive film on nitinol biomaterial by scanning electrochemical microscopy

open access: yesElectrochemistry Communications, 2019
In our recent experiments the behavior of a nitinol sample used as an implant was examined using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM) and atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS).

Hydrothermal treatment of oil palm wood: effect of treatment variables on dimensional stability using response surface methodology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Oil palm wood (OPW) extracted from felled oil palm trunks during replanting could be a source of replenishment for the depleted timber sources. Nevertheless, dimensional instability of OPW is one of the drawbacks that need to be addressed before it can ...

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Effect of catalytic conditions on the synthesis of new aconitate esters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Sugar cane is a crop which generates large amounts of biomass and a juice rich in highvalue natural molecules. After extracting sugar from the juice, the recovering of various compounds such as organic acids contained in molasses could contribute to ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Iridium complexes bearing a PNP ligand, favoring facile C(sp^3)–H bond cleavage [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Hydrogen iodide is lost upon reaction of PNP with IrI_3, where PNP = 2,6-bis-(di-t-butylphosphinomethyl)pyridine to give crystallographically characterized Ir(PNP)*(I)_2, which reacts with H_2 to give Ir(PNP)(H)(I)_2.
