Ruthenium anchored on carbon nanotube electrocatalyst for hydrogen production with enhanced Faradaic efficiency [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Developing efficient and stable electrocatalysts is crucial for the electrochemical production of pure and clean hydrogen. For practical applications, an economical and facile method of producing catalysts for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) is ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Inhibition Effect of N, N'-Dimethylaminoethanol on the Corrosion of Austenitic Stainless Steel Type 304 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The effect of N,N'-dimethylaminoethanol on the corrosion of austenitic stainless steel type 304 in 3M H2SO4 has been studied by weight-loss method and linear polarization measurement in different concentrations of the compound.

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Asymmetric acidic/alkaline N2 electrofixation accelerated by high‐entropy metal–organic framework derivatives

open access: yesCarbon Energy, 2023
High‐entropy materials are composed of five or more metal elements with equimolar or near‐equimolar concentrations within one crystal structure, which offer remarkable structural properties for many applications.

Responses to phosphate deprivation in white clover (Trifolium repens L.) : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Philosophy in Plant Biology at Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Four breeding lines of white clover (Trifolium repens L.) were obtained from AgResearch Grasslands, Palmerston North, New Zealand, that had been shown previously to differ in terms of specific growth responses to added phosphate (P) in the field.

Export of miRNAs from activated macrophages is cooperative and HuR‐dependent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study uncovers a new mechanism for miRNA export regulation in mammalian cells, driven by the RNA‐binding protein HuR. In macrophages, HuR cooperatively binds with miRNAs to export both low‐ and high‐affinity substrates, thereby influencing macrophage activation.

Separation Options for Phosphorylated Osteopontin from Transgenic Microalgae Chlamydomonas reinhardtii. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Correct folding and post-translational modifications are vital for therapeutic proteins to elicit their biological functions. Osteopontin (OPN), a bone regenerative protein present in a range of mammalian cells, is an acidic phosphoprotein with multiple ...
