Bioleaching of Transition Metals From Limonitic Laterite Deposits and Reassessment of the Multiple Roles of Sulfur-Oxidizing Acidophiles in the Process

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2021
Using acidophilic bacteria to catalyze the reductive dissolution of oxidized minerals is an innovative process that facilitates the extraction of valuable base metals (principally cobalt and nickel) from limonites, which are otherwise often regarded as ...

Rock phosphate solubilization by abiotic and fungal‐produced oxalic acid: reaction parameters and bioleaching potential

open access: yesMicrobial Biotechnology, Volume 15, Issue 4, Page 1189-1202, April 2022., 2022
This research investigates the extraction of phosphate from rock phosphate by abiotic and fungal‐produced oxalic acid. Complete P extraction was achieved at stoichiometric proportions of apatite and oxalic acid, with up to 75% P released in less than 1 h.

Differentiation Of Acidithiobacillus Ferrooxidans And A. Thiooxidans Strains Based On 16s-23s Rdna Spacer Polymorphism Analysis.

open access: yes, 2015
Restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) and sequence analyses of the PCR-amplified 16S-23S rDNA intergenic spacer (ITS) were used for differentiating Acidithiobacillus thiooxidans strains from other related acidithiobacilli, including A ...

Microbial leaching of marmatite by Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans and Acidithiobacillus thiooxidans

open access: yesTransactions of Nonferrous Metals Society of China, 2006
The bioleaching of marmatite in shaken flasks was studied. After leaching for 29 days, the leaching ratio of zinc was 91%. Three kinds of bacteria, mixture-based bacteria, 9K-based bacteria and sulfur-based bacteria were used in marmatite leaching, of which the mixture-based bacteria have the best leaching result while the sulfur-based bacteria have ...

Effects of Lysinibacillus sphaericus on Physicomechanical and Chemical Performance of OPC Blended with Natural Tuff and Pulverized Fly Ash

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, Volume 2022, Issue 1, 2022., 2022
This paper reports study findings on the use of Lysinibacillus sphaericus (at 1.0 × 107 cells/ml concentration) to enhance and improve the physicomechanical and chemical properties of blended Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC). Blending was done separately with pulverized fly ash (PFA) and natural pozzolana (volcanic tuff) at substitution levels of 10%, 20%
