Fast pH‐Driven Solubilization Method of Realgar (As4S4) to Reduce the Toxicity of Arsenic [As(III)] for Medicinal Purposes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 29, August 7, 2025.
Arsenic trioxide transformed acute promyelocytic leukemia therapy and shows promise against HIV. A new method to solubilize the mineral realgar produces different arsenic species depleting the main arsenic target, nuclear PML protein, and retaining effects on leukemic and HIV reservoir cells, while minimizing off‐target damage.

Biosorption of Reactive Dyes by Novel Bacterium Leclercia adecarboxylata: Complete Removal of Reactive Black 5 and Molecular Insights Into the Adsorption Mechanism

open access: yesWater Environment Research, Volume 97, Issue 6, June 2025.
Reactive Black 5 was biosorbed by Leclercia adecarboxylata, highlighting removal and adsorption mechanism. ABSTRACT Leclercia adecarboxylata isolated from the Düden Waterfall (Turkey) was utilized as a biosorbent for the removal of Reactive Black 5 (RB5), Setazol Blue BRF‐X (BRF‐X), Setazol Navy Blue SBG (SNB), and Setazol Turquoise Blue G (STBG).

Growth Inhibition by Tungsten in the Sulfur-Oxidizing BacteriumAcidithiobacillus thiooxidans

open access: yesBioscience, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry, 2005
Growth of five strains of sulfur-oxidizing bacteria Acidithiobacillus thiooxidans, including strain NB1-3, was inhibited completely by 50 microM of sodium tungstate (Na(2)WO(4)). When the cells of NB1-3 were incubated in 0.1 M beta-alanine-SO(4)(2-) buffer (pH 3.0) with 100 microM Na(2)WO(4) for 1 h, the amount of tungsten bound to the cells was 33 ...

Oxygen In The Mix: Is Oxic Microbial Electrosynthesis A Potential Alternative For Biomass Production?

open access: yesChemElectroChem, Volume 11, Issue 20, October 16, 2024.
Oxic microbial electrosynthesis (oMES) enables the conversion of renewable electricity and oxic industrial CO2‐streams into biomass by cultivating aerobic, autotrophic hydrogen‐oxidizing bacteria. This article presents the most promising candidates for oMES, discusses their biomass productivity and energy efficiency, and outlines research gaps to bring
