The Dissociation Constants of Tetrahydrofolic Acid

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1966
Six dissociable groups exist in tetrahydrofolic acid in the range H0 -3.0 to pH 14. The assignments in tetrahydrofolic acid by titrimetric and spectrophotometric comparisons with model compounds, p-aminobenzoylglutamic acid and 2-amino-6,7-dimethyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-4-pteridinone, are as follows: acidic ionization of amide, pK' 10.5; N5, pK' 4.82; γ ...

Merging Electron Deficient Boronic Centers with Electron-Withdrawing Fluorine Substituents Results in Unique Properties of Fluorinated Phenylboronic Compounds

open access: yesMolecules, 2022
Fluorinated boron species are a very important group of organoboron compounds used first of all as receptors of important bioanalytes, as well as biologically active substances, including Tavaborole as an antifungal drug.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Influence of Acidity in Paste Properties of Modified Corn Starch Through Natural Fermentation

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2019
The objective of this research was to carry out the fermentation of corn starch in the same manner as cassava starch fermentation and to study its behavior during the fermentation process, analysing acidity and paste properties. CoS (corn starch) and CaS

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

By dawn or dusk—how circadian timing rewrites bacterial infection outcomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The circadian clock shapes immune function, yet its influence on infection outcomes is only beginning to be understood. This review highlights how circadian timing alters host responses to the bacterial pathogens Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, and Streptococcus pneumoniae revealing that the effectiveness of immune defense depends not only

Computational Investigations on Phycocyanobilin

open access: yesChemistry Proceedings
Phycocyanobilin was computationally investigated by means of DFT calculations in combination with implicit solvation starting from X-ray data. Different conformations and degrees of protonation were considered, and the acidity constants were estimated ...

Molecular bases of circadian magnesium rhythms across eukaryotes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Circadian rhythms in intracellular [Mg2+] exist across eukaryotic kingdoms. Central roles for Mg2+ in metabolism suggest that Mg2+ rhythms could regulate daily cellular energy and metabolism. In this Perspective paper, we propose that ancestral prokaryotic transport proteins could be responsible for mediating Mg2+ rhythms and posit a feedback model ...

Instrumental methods for NaCl analysis in olive brines

open access: yesGrasas y Aceites, 1991
Aplicability of flame photometric and ion selective (sodium or chloride) methods to determinate NaCI concentration in olive brines in comparison with the official one (Volhard), which uses AgNO3, is studied.

The acid dissociation constants of mellitic acid

open access: yesCHIMIA, 1977
The acid dissociation constants of mellitic acid were evaluated at 25 °C from potentiometric titrations in aqueous solutions of the constant Na+ molarity 3 M consisting preponderantly of NaClO4. The obtained values are summarized in the table.
