Comparative Investigation of the Effects of Season (Summer–Winter) and Sex on Tear Production and Intraocular Pressure in Saanen and Honamlı Goats

open access: yesVeterinary Ophthalmology, Volume 29, Issue 4, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate the effects of season (summer vs. winter) and sex on tear production (Schirmer tear test; STT‐I) and intraocular pressure (IOP) in Honamlı and Saanen goats raised under similar environmental conditions. Materials and Methods A total of 120 clinically healthy goats (Honamlı and Saanen; 30 females and 30 males per breed ...

Patterns of Postictal Abnormalities in Relation to Status Epilepticus in Adults

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, Volume 13, Issue 6, Page 1118-1128, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective Abnormalities on peri‐ictal diffusion‐weighted magnetic resonance imaging (DWI‐PMAs) are well‐established for patients with status epilepticus (SE), but knowledge on patterns of DWI‐PMAs and their prognostic impact is sparse. Methods This systematic review and individual participant data meta‐analysis included observational studies ...

Lactic Acidosis Secondary to Metformin in a Patient Presenting with Acute Renal Failure due to Diarrhea: Case Report

open access: yesTurkish Journal of Nephrology, 2019

Thiamine deficiency-related myocardial dysfunction: A hidden cause of refractory lactic acidosis and shock in severe diabetic ketoacidosis: A case report

open access: yesJournal of Pediatric Critical Care
Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) is a life-threatening complication of diabetes mellitus, characterized by hyperglycemia, ketosis, and metabolic acidosis. Severe dehydration and hypovolemic shock in severe DKA are common, but myocardial dysfunction and lactic

T‐Cell Exhaustion in the Tumor Microenvironment: Subcellular Dysfunction, Pan‐Cancer Characteristics, and Therapeutic Interventions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 33, 15 June 2026.
This study elucidates the mechanisms of subcellular multidimensional collapse in exhausted T cells. By specifically targeting the nucleus, mitochondria, and endoplasmic reticulum, strategic interventions can effectively remodel the compromised organelle network. This integrated approach drives comprehensive T cell resuscitation, ultimately establishing

Cytosolic Phosphoenoylpyruvate Carboxykinase Deficiency: Clinical, Biochemical, and Genetic Features of Five Non‐Finnish Patients

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, Volume 200, Issue 6, Page 1192-1203, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Cytosolic phosphoenoylpyruvate carboxykinase (PEPCK‐C) is an essential, rate‐limiting enzyme in the gluconeogenesis pathway. PEPCK‐C deficiency presents with hypoglycaemia, hyperlactataemia and hepatopathy, and was first reported in association with bi‐allelic PCK1 variants in 2014.

Neuroprotective Effects of Phenothiazines on Acute Ischemic Stroke

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 6, June 2026.
For acute ischemic stroke due to large vessel occlusion, adjunctive neuroprotective therapy with mechanical thrombectomy is important; however, current treatment options are relatively limited. Phenothiazines such as chlorpromazine and promethazine (C + P) have shown potential neuroprotective effects in preclinical studies.
