Regulation of T cell antitumor immune response by tumor induced metabolic stress

open access: yesCell Stress, 2018
Adaptive T cell immune response is essential for tumor growth control. The efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitors is regulated by intratumoral immune response. The tumor microenvironment has a major role in adaptive immune response tuning.

3‐Hydroxyisobutyryl‐CoA hydrolase deficiency in an infant with developmental delay and high anion gap acidosis

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, 2021
Due to the rarity of this disorder, paying attention to diagnostic clues is important. Low valine formula seems to be effective in improvement of patient's symptoms. Prevention of consanguineous marriage is the best way to prevent this disease.

Metabolic Acidosis and Subclinical Metabolic Acidosis in CKD [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the American Society of Nephrology, 2017
Metabolic acidosis is not uncommon in CKD and is linked with bone demineralization, muscle catabolism, and higher risks of CKD progression and mortality. Clinical practice guidelines recommend maintaining serum total CO2 at ≥22 mEq/L to help prevent these complications.

The LDH‐H3K18La‐Nur77 Axis Potentiates Immune Escape in Small Cell Lung Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Lactate from SCLC tumors induces H3K18 lactylation in naïve CD8+ T cells, upregulating Nurr77 and enhancing tonic TCR signaling. This leads to T cell hyporesponsiveness to stimulation, impairing antitumor immunity and reducing immunotherapy efficacy.

In Vitro Model for Evaluation of Cancer Cell Proliferative Activity under Simulated Acidosis and Using Chitosan Microparticles

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
This investigation provides experimental data related to the development of a useful in vitro model allowing for a deeper analysis of invasive (metastatic) cancer cells using the effect of forced acidosis on the behavior of an epithelial colon cancer ...

Bispecific Antibody Targeting VEGF/TGF‐β Synergizes with Local Radiotherapy: Turning Tumors from Cold to Inflamed and Amplifying Abscopal Effects

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Y332D, a bispecific antibody that simultaneously blockades VEGF and TGF‐β, counteracted negative RT effects that are attributed to the upregulation of TGF‐β and VEGF, as well as further enhanced the immunostimulatory effects of RT, thereby reprograming the TME from immune “cold” to inflamed state and forming an effective in‐situ vaccine that eradicate ...

Glycolytic Enzyme HK2 Phosphorylates nSMase1 to Promote Astrocytic Exosomes Biogenesis Contributing to Acute Ischemic Stroke Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the glycolytic enzyme HK2 mediates hypoxia‐induced astrocytic exosome biogenesis by directly phosphorylating nSMase1. These astrocytic exosomes impair brain endothelial tight junctions. Astrocyte‐specific knockdown of HK2 reduces exosome release and alleviates brain injury after MCAO.

Hyponatremia Associated with Prophylactic Low-Dose Trimethoprim during Systemic Corticosteroid Therapy for AQP4-Positive Optic Neuritis in a Diabetic Patient

open access: yesAntibiotics, 2020
Hyponatremia associated with low-dose trimethoprim in patients on concomitant systemic corticosteroid therapy has rarely been reported. Here, we describe a 57-year-old woman with a history of diabetes mellitus and hypertension treated with telmisartan ...
