Fitting Jet Noise Similarity Spectra to Volcano Infrasound Data

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, 2021
Infrasound (low‐frequency acoustic waves) has proven useful to detect and characterize subaerial volcanic activity, but understanding the infrasonic source during sustained eruptions is still an area of active research.

Techniques for classifying acoustic resonant spectra [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of 1994 28th Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems and Computers, 2002
A second-generation nondestructive evaluation (NDE) system that discriminates between different types of chemical munitions is under development. The NDE system extracts features from the acoustic spectra of known munitions, builds templates from these features, and performs classification by comparing features extracted from an unknown munition to a ...

Spectral Acoustic Fingerprints of Sand and Sandstone Sea Bottoms

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2022
Modern studies which dealt with the frequency domain analysis showed that a frequency-domain approach has an essential advantage and mentioned an inner qualitative relationship between the subsurface structure and its frequency spectra.

Monitoring of the Aggregation Process of Dense Colloidal Silica Suspensions in a Stirred Tank by Acoustic Spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The aim of this study is to analyze the behaviour of dense colloidal suspensions in flow by acoustic spectroscopy. The destabilization and the aggregation of stable colloidal silica dispersions in a stirred tank are obtained by addition of salt ...

A Spectra-Based Equalization-Generation Combined Framework for Throat Microphone Speech Enhancement

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
Non-acoustic sensors are widely used in speech signal processing tasks, and their immunity to the background acoustic noise shows great benefits to traditional speech enhancement.

Possible representative indoor acoustic environment spectra

open access: yesProceedings of the 10th Convention of the European Acoustics Association Forum Acusticum 2023, 2022
The goal of this investigation is to evaluate the possibility of defining an alternative indoor sound spectrum based on objective and verifiable data, representative for an average household in Europe. Such an alternative indoor sound spectrum could then be used to evaluate airborne sound transmission performance.

Resonant acousto-optics in the terahertz range: TO-phonon polaritons driven by an ultrasonic wave [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The resonant acousto-optic effect is studied both analytically and numerically in the terahertz range where the transverse-optical (TO) phonons play the role of a mediator which strongly couples the ultrasound and light fields.

Analysis of Acoustic Attenuation Spectra of Lipon Glasses

open access: yesCommunications, 2010
The acoustic attenuation spectra which reflect the basic features of the relaxation and transport processes of the mobile ions of investigated phosphate and oxynitride phosphate glasses are analyzed.

Small Scale Cosmological Perturbations: An Analytic Approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Through analytic techniques verified by numerical calculations, we establish general relations between the matter and cosmic microwave background (CMB) power spectra and their dependence on cosmological parameters on small scales. Fluctuations in the CMB,

Anisotropic spectra of acoustic type turbulence [PDF]

open access: yesPhysics of Plasmas, 2008
The problem of spectra for acoustic type of turbulence generated by shocks being randomly distributed in space is considered. It is shown that for turbulence with a weak anisotropy, such spectra have the same dependence in k-space as the Kadomtsev–Petviashvili spectrum: E(k)∼k−2.
