Progesterone Resistance in Endometriosis: an Acquired Property? [PDF]

open access: yesTrends in Endocrinology & Metabolism, 2018
Endometriosis is the growth of endometrial tissue outside the uterus and is characterized by progesterone resistance and changes in global and progesterone target gene expression. However, the mechanism behind this and whether it is innate, acquired, or present in both the eutopic and ectopic tissue in not always clear.

SYSTEMIC ACQUIRED RESISTANCE

Annual Review of Phytopathology, 1997
▪ Abstract  This paper examines induced resistance (SAR) in plants against various insect and pathogenic invaders. SAR confers quantitative protection against a broad spectrum of microorganisms in a manner comparable to immunization in mammals, although the underlying mechanisms differ.

SYSTEMIC ACQUIRED RESISTANCE

Annual Review of Phytopathology, 2004
▪ Abstract  Systemic acquired resistance (SAR) is a mechanism of induced defense that confers long-lasting protection against a broad spectrum of microorganisms. SAR requires the signal molecule salicylic acid (SA) and is associated with accumulation of pathogenesis-related proteins, which are thought to contribute to resistance. Much progress has been

ACQUIRED RESISTANCE TO PARATHYROID HORMONE

Acta Endocrinologica, 1976
ABSTRACT Studies are presented in a patient with pseudohypoparathyroidism who showed a partial response to parathyroid extract. Resistance to the extract was observed after its short-term administration for the fourth time. Serum from the patient contained antibodies of the γG globulin class which bound 125I-labelled bovine parathyroid hormone.
